Yes they can as long as they follow the protocol. A PIL was filed in the supreme court and that person won the case.. since then it is allowed as long as the person or association (apartments) follow all the protocols and give the flag its due respect.

Wow the campaign against Vidya, Tapsee, Alia, Deepika et all...has started in earnest and very early, I predict it will branch out into all forms of issues from not standing up in the dark at theaters where nobody really was paying attention, to what natural weaver clothing you wear instead of imported duds. That's still okay. Imagine going to watch a movie like Hate Story. That's like standing up for national anthem before watching p*rn. Just because it's national anthem that doesn't make it okay to play it anywhere. Its cheapening, its demeaning, its forced patriotism, and no one is becoming deshbhakt by standing up for the anthem.

As i said before, there are two factors in this

First, playing NA in the theaters before the movie.

Secondly, if played, should one stand up or not

For me personally, playing NA in the theaters seems weird and I do not approve of it.

However once its played, I have no problems in standing up for the same, coz its only about showing respect and its not hurting me or my freedom in any way.

As for displaying National flags at home, why not. I know in the US pretty much every other household displays their national flag outside their homes with pride.

Then national anthem should be played anywhere,anytime and one must stand up just cause. Maybe at peak traffic,at hospitals, weddings,discos, just randomass places just because what's the harm if it's played. Not that it inconveniences people at all. Not that it's disrespectful to national anthem at all. A national anthem has a certain status. One doesn't need to demean or cheapen it by playing it at randomass places where people have a chance or even think of disrespecting it. There is a time and place for the national anthem. It isn't an item song kahin bhi chala liya without context and repercussions.

National anthem should be then played at colleges,workplaces because those are the centres of education and economy and it makes sense to play them there just like we do at schools. But workplaces pe you can't do that cause capitalism trumps all of this,genuine or forced patriotism. Money trumps everything. So no tinkering there.

Waise one doesn't have to listen or sing the national anthem in a goddamn theatre in order to respect the national anthem. Its not like they will forget it if they don't listen or sing it in a theatre every week lol? My question remains the same why a goddamn theatre.
