well there are arguments for and against this, and it is just a matter of preference, a person not standing isn't anti national and a person standing isn't a sacha patriot or jingoistic.

Of course we dont have it. Suddenly too much emphasis on Nationalism, lekin desh gaddhe mein jaa raha uska kisiko nahi padhi hai.

What is the purpose of playing the National Anthem in movie theatre at first place, I still don't get it?

But isn’t that the case though?? I mean I have never been to cinema in India but I have seen people debate about the forcing to stand up part here on I-F a lot.

First of all this whole idea of playing the National Anthem in a movie theater is not acceptable to me.

but if it is played, then there's nothing wrong in showing 2 minutes of respect to your nation. Its not a big deal. yes its not compulsory but its not something that is so difficult to digest or something that's really hurting you in any way.

Just like we don't have to address elders as aap or ji , its not a written rule but again, if showing respect for that 10 seconds does not take anything away from you, then why not?.

I don't know why the national anthem started playing in theaters as what's the logic? It is like before watching any show on TV, the national anthem starts playing.

I don't understand this need to rationalize everything, National anthem was made mandatory by SC and that's the reason why multiplexes followed it, now it's optional but multiplexes do it nonetheless.... Why there has to be a reason for everything? It's not like we sing national anthem everyday so what's the issue if we stand up for it once in a while? It's not like a minute of your life is getting wasted where you could have cracked a billion dollar dear if you hadn't been singing your national anthem. And not standing up when your national anthem plays is rude, Baki Jaisi jiski Soch!

Everyone should stand up for national anthem and we should've flags mandatory with all viewers. A person without ticket can be exempted for once, but entering without flag the person should get thrown out from theatre.

That's your soch and the beauty of it is that you are most welcome to follow your soch without worrying about anything/anyone else! Problem kya hai isme?
