I used to tie rakhi to brothers sisters both. Even my grandparents. Nowdays everyone is busy so every year nahi ho pata. In school students used to tie it on teachers hands too. Ours was girls school n all female teachers, and popular Mam's had wrist full of rakhis at the end of the day🤣🤣
In Bengal, Rabindranath tagore came on the streets to celebrate rakhi n everyone tied everyone rakhi religion gender irrespective, it was a protest against the Bengal partition decision of 1905 n symbolized unity.
Rakhi is more about celebrating love specially between brothers n sisters, the brothers n sisters both know both r gonna give their life to protect each other. In Bengal we have bhaifota too, and their the younger brothers touch elder sisters feet while you get sister's touch elder brothers feet. And we see it as a day to have a gathering amidst of the busy life, oh n lots of gifts. Both brother n sisters give each other gifts, gifts r always great🤣🤣 I'm lalchi

I tie rakhi to my cat. 😁
I basically don't care about the genesis of it all, Mother's Day doesn't mean you'll have to respect your mom for only one day, similarly Rakshabandhan shouldn't mean only the male sibling doing Raksha or whatever... I basically treat it like a day for celebrating sibling bond.... We do it for everyone. We have a day for everyone mom, dad, women, men then why not siblings 😃 And who needs protection from brothers.. Just tell me another day his hands would go to his wallet without a mahabharat happening in your house😛
exactly 🤣🤣and when I was a kiddo I didn't even have to give gifts to brothers or sisters. Profit hi profit. Now I have to give gifts too . Ajkal my brothers giving ek hi gift har saal, cadbury celebration or perfumes 😭Originally posted by: MsChanadlerBong

Well it's the other way round for me....sisters do tie rakhis to protect brothers... I mean thats what I have been taught that rakhi and the love with which I tie that rakhi will protect my brother From problems.... And that's why in return he gives pashli (gift)
Kunta mata tied it to abhimanyu when he was going to mahabharat war to protect him... And he only died after that rakhi was untied from his wrist.
