She took a couple of deep breaths before she entered the room again. She has to be strong, for herself and her daughter. No one can be trusted at this point. Her husband, Mr. Bajaj was normally a very cautious man, so she chalked it up to a momentary loss in judgement,
âKukki, get off the bed, Dad needs to rest,âShe ordered as she saw father daughter cuddling. To end the debate, she simply picked her daughter out of her husbandâs arms and took her to the couch where her toys were.
âI am fine, Mrs Bajaj. Kukki can stay,â Mr. Bajaj said in his no nonsense tone.
âI don't recall asking your opinion,âPrerna said turning around.
It was her tone that got his attention, she was angry but there was a lace of fear as well.
âI am fine Prerna, just a little bit of scratches,â he tried consoling her as tears fell down her eyes.
âYou should be more careful,â she chided, âYou know someone is trying to hurt us, first Kukki got locked in the store room, you have been receiving threatening letters and today you got hit by a car,â she said fixing his pillow and helping him sit up straight, âYou are all Kukki and I have. We had decided to be more cautious after the store room incident,â Prerna said handing him his pain killers and a glass of water.
âI was trying to save you, as you ran behind Kukki on the road, the car was coming at you. It was extremely foolish of you to run behind Kukki like thatâ He replied in his defence.
âWhat do you pay those security guards for? You should have sent them,â she pointed out fixing the hair that fell into his eyes, âAnd I was running behind Kukki to protect her. I am her mother, it's my job,â
âAnd I am your husband, it's my job as well.âHe simply replied.
