During Vajpayee's tenure as PM , I don't remember so much opposition happening like it is right now, that too out of experience of coming from a left leaning state. The criticism and opposition and hatred was never as big as this.
Same with Parikar. He has been praised enough by everyone irrespective of political ideologies for his work, esp his leadership in Goa. And the love Sushma Swaraj has received all these years is pretty much there in online and otherwise. She and Vajpayee were the ones who were loved by everyone because they not just had great oratory skills but also had it in them to respect the opposition and understand what they wanted to say. And I think THIS is what makes them different from everyone you've mentioned and what makes them legendary. The fact that people across all parties and ideologies keep them in high regards speaks for the work they have done all these years for their party as well as their country. While they were in power there was never this intolerance over criticism of the ruling government which is happening nowadays.
I would rather say it's hypocritical of people on twitter giving glorious tributes and condolences to Sushma Swaraj now while sometime back they were the same people from her party who never condemned people abusing Sushma ji on twitter for liking some tweets.
My point was. If the legends were with the party. Party mein kuch toh baat thi.. hai. That's all. Good people stay with good ones. 
BJP always have had level headed ministers. Coming from a humble background and staying same.. all the while contributing so much towards country. Betuke log bhi hai. Lekin aschhe walo ke numbers jyada hai.
@bold -- Aise betuke logo ki baaton pe legends nahi reach karte. Hamare tumhare jese log jate nahi politics mein toh kuch betuke logo ko bhi sath rakhna padta hai. Kya kare politics hai.
