In india, MBBS = Four and half years of MBBS plus one year house surgeon/ internship ..After completing this one year of internship only you get a MBBS degree or you are said to be a "Doctor"... After completing this one year of House surgeon/internship, Through PG medical entrance exam...You will get PG (post graduation) seat and you will be eligible to do post graduation course of 2 or 3 yrs ( 2 yrs if it is Diploma course...3 yrs if it is MD/MS/ DNB courses) ...In india post graduate students studying in medical colleges/hospitals are called Resident Doctors as they are like "Residents" in the hospital ie., available for 24 hrs😆..Even the Doctors recently completed PG and working under Senior most Docs are called as Resident Docs...
I heard that Before few yrs after completing 2-3 yrs PG also, there was internship of one yr...In the middle Government wanted to extend that internship to 3 yrs making it more worse for PG students but finally now there is no internship after PG...
Specialisation = PG
Superspecialisation will be another 3 yrs after completing PG if one want to go further in their career..
Here SC and NK are "resident Docs" (based on the articles) means they are PG students or they completed their PG and working in some hospital under Senior most Docs to learn more and gain experience😆... But you said Ishaani is first year Resident Doc, so she is first year PG student..
I hope this helps! 😆
All this explaination is applicable in India only..bcz in foreign countries, Medicine course is quite different
IF posted a review of the first epi. Apparently SC ka character is like Sherlock Holmes of Doctors 🤣
And ML is typical Casanova. Lol DMG vibes. And apparently leads ki bickering is already forced🤷♀️😂
Lol shakal dekh ke marz bata deti hai🤣 Yeh toh antaryami hui 0hor doctari mainnpaise kyon jhonke phir🤣 ek darakhat ke neexh3 tota ke kar bhaith jaati for her predictions
Anyways sounda pathetic going by the 2 reviews i've read really can't stabd forced bondings and chemistry and they were anyways lacking any spark in the promo but ab jitna hai woh bhi super forced hai toh jaane kitna bekaar hoga

Thanks for detailed explanation Nihara..its quite helpful..😳
So as resident doctors who are studying PG, are they allowed to operate on patients independently? Also i think when you are doing PG you will only look into cases related to your specialization right?

You know what, it differs from hospital to hospital.If you take Government hospitals, there are abundant number of patients are available compared to private hospitals ...You are exposed to large number of patients there, so you learn things in short span of time...actually you need to learn when Patient : Doctor ratio is high which is the case of Government hospitals .. And again it depends on the type of surgical procedure and complexity of that procedure...There are many steps in each surgical procedure.There are simple steps like suturing etc., Once the complex/ important step in the procedure is done, the HOD/Assistant professor will leave the remaining procedure to PG doctors mainly third year and second year students to complete the rest of the procedure...Simplest steps like suturing is even done by House surgeons...And again if the entire procedure is simple,yes PG students mainly third and second years are allowed to do independently if senior most Doc allows you... While Senior most Doc is doing the procedure , remaining paltan assist him😂... Here paltan means Residents,House surgeons,Sisters😂.. Some times first years and House surgeons are mere spectators 😂 particularly in OBG department/ specialisation 😂
The simple surgical procedure like Hydrocoelectomy is even done by House Surgeons..And even House surgeons are allowed to do suturing ie., Simpler step in each surgery..
First you need to know hierarchy here...In each department/specialisation There is 1)HOD (head of the Department), 2) Assistant professors 3) Resident Doctors (Third,second and first) and 4) Interns/House surgeons 5) Nurses/Sisters..
They are divided like units...each unit is looked after by an Assistant professor.HOD also looks after one of the units (like Assistant professor) ...Under an unit, there is 1) Assistant professor /HOD 2) Resident docs, 3) Interns(house surgeons) 4) Nurses/Sisters ...
In three years of Residency , you have exams in the end of third year of Residency..You get your PG degree only after passing this exam😂 So Generally third year Residents need to prepare for the exams so they disappear in last few months of Residency and go to library to prepare for the exams after giving attendance😂... Then Second and first years get more chances😂...
And again there are slight variations from hospital to hospital...I could only talk about the hospital in which i did my Graduation..😂... Mein toh completed graduation abhi tak 😂...have not reached that (PG ) point of career ..
House surgeons works under first year PGs ,first years under second years, second years under third years etc., ....
And again it depends on specialty lol...Surgical procedures are generally not done in non-surgical branches like General Medicine..
@bold
You know what .. First of all, Doc take history and do examination of patients in OP (Out Patient clinic /wing) .. Here Doc means, he can be Assistant professor/HOD in each unit...If they are not available Senior residents/house surgeons look after taking history for time being...Patient often comes with more than one symptom/complaint ..If the chief complaint is not related to their specialisation, Docs will refer the patients to concerned speciality .. If the patient is related to his speciality, Doc treat him in OP...If admission of Patient is needed, they are admitted in wards in each unit.Admission is done/decided by Assistant professor/HOD in each unit not by PG students/House surgeons ...After admitting in wards, if patient develops other symptoms they will try to treat other symptoms too if they can...If they cant they will refer the patient to concerned OP and then after consulting in that OP ,the patient again returns to his ward in which he was admitted for the chief compliant..After admitting in wards, if the patient requires surgery, and Patient is co-opearative and ready for the surgery, Surgery will be done by concerned speciality Doctors ...And again if the symptom is complex, they are referred to superspecialisation Doctor..For eg: If General Medicine doc is not sufficient to treat the condition, patients are referred to Neurologist or Cardiologist depending on the symptoms and signs..If General surgeon cant, referred to Cardiac surgeon /Neuro surgeon similarly...lol
I hope this helps! 😂
Actually in OP room ( Out Patient Clinic/wing) also ,Along with Assistant prifessor, ..Resident docs, House surgeons, Sisters hote hai.. Generally the patients are more in number, so the Resident Docs and House surgeons take history of the patient and check vitals ...then Assistant professor do examination and write treatment...If he is not available, Resident Doc write treatment...If he cant, he take advice of Assistant professor by phone calls😆... But admission in wards is only decided by Assistant professor/HOD in each unit...
All these explaination is applicable to medical colleges /hospitals which provides Medicine courses ....
If you take Private clinic , only consultant is present along with nurse/sister. Here Consultant should have minimum degree of MBBS ie., He should complete 5 and half years (including House Surgeon/internship ) and have registered his/her name in MCI...This registration is done around one month after House surgeon/Internship ...But these days after completing graduation, Doctors try to get PG seat through PG entrance exam...Its difficult to get PG seat as very less seats available in India..So it takes time..Some will work in private hospitals for time being while preparing for the PG entrance exam...
In private Superspeciality hospitals which doesnt provide courses , they will hire Docs who completed Graduation and Post graduation..
Nihara..that explanation is indeed very detailed and very informative....thank you so much for providing much detailed info....😳
When my father heart related issue, the main doc, cardio thoracic surgeon initially did check the issue and he decided on surgery for heart valve replacement and then I have observed that his team of docs took care of every thing...and one of the senior docs in the team told us that they will check and then discuss all details with main surgeon and then he decides on what needs to be done....even during surgery the main doc was there for only some time I think as surgery was for 4-5 hours and his team actually took care of everything....his team also had a doctor from another country who was learning under him...not sure if he is resident doc or finished PG but assisting and learning from him....this was in Apollo Hyderabad.
Nihara, In India is there a term called surgical interns ? I heard/read about it in Grey's Anatomy show...but as you said things are different in different countries...
