I think both mother and sister are selfish. At this point I doubt they would believe her rather say she is finding reasons because she finds it unethical she doesn't want to do it so she is giving such reasons.

There is definitely something called lack of communication between sonakshi and them because sonakshi always keeps quiet so everyone takes her for granted. Secondly she is hardworking and ethical person while both of them are greedy and unethical.
