Chapter 8: Part I: Necessary evil
Bhagwant Singhâs horse made his way right afront bewildered Sharifâudâdin. Before Sharifâudâdin could assess the situation Bhagwant Das sword swung across his chest, and in an attempt to respond, Sharifâudâdin stumbled off his horse. The moment the douche (Sharifâudâdin) landed the Earth beneath, Bhagwant Das pulled the reign of his horse, the animal made another gallop and struck the chest of Sharifâudâdin, trampling the fiend underneath his foot. Unarmed, exhausted Sharifâudâdin looked at Bhagwant Das who atop his horse looked like near and sure death. Seeing Sharifâudâdin unarmed, panting and gasping for breath, Bhagwant Das leaped off his horse and knelt down, grabbing Sharifâudâdinâs throat ready to squeeze out his very life via his own bare hands.
Bhagwant Das (throbbing in rage): Where is my brother? What did you did you do to him? Speak you piece of FILTH..!
Bhagwantâs clasp at Sharifâudâdinâs throat was cutting the air supply and he could feel his limb and senses going numb. He had been strangulated the second time in the same night, by another rajput, his mind screamed in horror, there was noway he would survive this.
But just in time, the tide turned. Sharifâudâdinâs commander yelled at the top of his voice.
Commander: I warn you Bhagwant Das, leave master, before I slit your brotherâs throat..
Bhagwant Das zeroed in on the scene afront. There stood Sujamal, knelt on his knees, brutally assaulted, profusely bleeding, rope tied around his neck, being restrained by five men who were pulling the rope in five different directions to keep him down. Bhagwantâs misty eyes clouded his vision. Never ever had he seen Sujamal this injured, Bhagwant knew his brother was out of his senses but conscious enough to spot him and the situation.
Sujamal yelled: Kill the leceher! And donât you dare feel sorry for me, brother! I deserve this fate..Kill him..
Bhagwant Das couldnât bare to see Sujamal. He averted his gaze, his clasp on Sharifâudâdinâs throat loosesned. Sharifâudâdin coughed and leaped backwards, gasping as much air as he could.
Sujamal (yelled again): NOâŚNoooo brother..I said kill him.
Just then, Sharifâudâdinâs commander hit Sujamal with the hilt of his sword and a fresh gush of blood oozed out of his already bleeding nose and before Sujamal could prompt Bhagwant Das again to go for the kill, thick blade of the commander pierced his collar bone to get him to succumb.
Sujamal bore the pain without a syllable but it was the shrill voice of Bhagwant das that caught commanderâs attention.
Bhagwant das: STOP!
Sujamalâs fiery red eyes shot up and he looked Bhagwant Das in utter desperation. The anger bubbled up.
Sujamal: NO brother, please NO..Let me go..Youâve to let hundreds of brother like me GO, in your way to safeguard the honor of our motherland..DONâT YOU DARE STOP, I SAY..DONT
Bhagwant Das lowered his gaze and Sujamal could see he had lost it. Tears of regret trickled down Sujamalâs face and he hung his head in utter disgust upon his existence, and sympathy for his poor younger brother, who loved him enough to not let go..
Commander (yelled at the top of voice addressing the rajput men): Drop your weapons now, or your prince goes dead.
All the rajputs men looked at Bhagwant Das, and there it happened.
Bhagwant Das lowered his sword and struck the blade on the sandy ground, the fire went off, He stood beside it unarmed. Every other of his men followed, and all the sharifâs men (who were being trampled upon by the rajputana fury) stepped back seeing their life spared. Sharifâs army encircled the rajput batallion, yet couldnât dare to come in the near radius.
By this time, Sharifâudâdin had restored enough strength to get up. He took the sword out of his commanderâs sword giving him a tight slap.
Sharaifâudâdin: You Moron! What took you this long? What for, you had this filthy rajput withheld, if you couldnât bring him on time. (Gave him another blow, grabbed his collar, and yelled like a maniac) Were you waiting for when these rajput squeezed the life outa me???
Surprised commander lowered his head.
Commander: Iâm sorry my lord, I got Sujamal as early as I could..
Sharifâudâdin pushed his commander and ran towards Bhagwant Das, who was still standing at his place while rest of his batallion had been encircled by Sharifâudâdinâs army.
Bhagwant das saw him coming but didnât make a move, and Sharifâudâdin swung past his sword right across his armour. The hard blow shattered Bhagwantâs armour, and he was left exposed to the vicious blows of Sharifâudâdin.
Sujamal (yelled infuriating): Leave my brother you scumbag, or I will rip your heart out.
The Rajput batallion also pushed the encircling sea of Sharifâs men, but Sharif yelled again.
âStay where you are or you would see the death of both your princes, right here afront your own eyesâ. Rajput men withheld resistance and simply watched in horror as their younger prince was being thrashed to one of the most brutal assaults they had ever seen, while their crown prince writhed in anger, the pain of the beating being received by his younger sibling, coursing through his veins like venom.
Sujamal kept yelling, and Sharifâudâdin kept thrashing Bhagwant Das with whatever he could get his hold on. Once exhausted, he threw the limp stature of Bhagwant Das towards his commander, signalling him to tie him too.
Finding him close, Sujamal called his brother again, a call that seeped of pain, anger. Though he wasnât himself in a position to even stand properly, he (still tied and being pulled) nudged his body close to the limp body of Bhagwant Das. Bhagwant Das (pinned down by commander and other soldiers) opened his eyes to look at his brother.
All Sujamal could see in those eyes of his younger brother was sheer resilience..
Bhagwant Das (panting): Whatever happens, I shall stand by you, in life or death. And you know it brother..Right?
Sujamal felt as someone struck his heart in two. This was the brother he alleged of conspiring against his crown, and here he lay, at the door of death, still firm, still by his side.
Fresh stream of tears flooded his eyes, he nudged his forehead to Bhagwant Das-âForgive Me, brother, I dont know how, but please doâ..
And both the princes were pulled along with other rajput soldiers in ropes, and shackles being taken towards the densely arid forest, where Sharifâudâdinâs men had made temporary settlements to get through the night.
P.S: Hi guys, very late, I know, sorry for that. And also that I made a small amendment in the Chap 7: Part !!!
