This might come as a piece of shocking news for the fans of Ekta Kapoor's Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. The show has been rumoured to be pulled off air for a long time. Amidst all this, the only source of hope for the fans of the show was the spin-off that the makers and the network have been planning. Recently in the month of July, there were reports floating that the show has been delayed indefinitely. However, if the latest updates coming from BollywoodLife's sources, are to be believed then, the spin-off titled, Yeh Hai Chahatein might never see the day of the light.

"Contrary to reports, the show has not been put on the backburner. It has been canceled by the network and the production house," a source close to the development confirmed. As per the information we have received Balaji Telefilms will, however, bring a new show to replace their ongoing daily Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Albeit it won't be a spin-off. "The new series is currently at the nascent stage. It will be a love drama," the source added. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein's spin-off was expected to be a mature love drama. In April the makers had even cast actress Akanksha Singh as the female lead. Meanwhile, reports were rife that Karan Vohra was in the race to play the male lead.

We dropped a text to Balaji's head honcho Ekta Kapoor for a comment, however, the show maker chose to not respond.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is currently facing the wrath of competition and declining on the TRP charts. Show's lead Karan Patel is also going to be missing from the show, as he is participating in the upcoming season of adventure reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi. While Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya just returned from her vacation, show's other lead character Anita Hassanandani will also shake a leg with her hubby in the upcoming season of dance reality show Nach Baliye 9.
