2011 WC - Got kicked by India in SF (made 7-0 )

2013 CT - DNQ for the knockouts

2014 - DNQ for the knockouts

2015 - DNQ for the knockouts (made 8-0 there)

2016 T20 WC - DNQ for the knockouts

2017 - Fluke victory

2919 - DNQ for the knockouts (Made 9-0 there)

Dada has been saying since aus series that dhoni needed to bat at up the order.

For future india needs to strengthen middle order. for the past 3 yrs or so virat scoring so many hundreds and the openers have not really tested the middle order. But in situations like these where the top 3 fail we will fall short

i also think Nz scored some 20 odd extra. They were at a stage where getting to 220 was difficult.

you know what Ricky Ponting said after 2011 QF loss that India is going to win the wc that is beacause India had big players in the likes of Yuvi and Raina who bailed India out of trouble to win that QF . that was quality , that was also knockout and how brilliantly they performed.

Also in 2011 SF , When we defeated Pak , India were 221-8 and Raina made some 35 runs at the end to squeeze india past till 260 and then we won by 28 runs . so big players its what it counts.

Kohli may have scored tons of hundreads but in a big game he is a big failure . so i would rate Gambhir (top scorer in both WC Finals which India won), Yuvi and Raina higher than Virat Kohli .

I agree we don't have the same quality middle order rt now. The transition from the middle order of rahul dravid, sourav (though he opened) laxman, khaif, was smooth with dhoni captain. ganguly era had backed proper players to continue after their generation. but after yuvi, raina, and gambhir, we have failed to find proper replacements. They have not given proper chances and backed certain players or we just don't have the big players. Upar se the top order has fired mostly with virat scoring so many runs and the lower middle order with dhoni being the finisher that they have not seriously taken the middle order threat. Now dhoni will also not play for long so its going to be even more inexperienced.

Look at it we dint have a proper experienced middle order batsmen as replacement with shikhar and Vijay injured. The WC team selected itself is questionable with 3 wicket keepers playing in 11. Why was kedar jhadav dropped and kartik taken is another question.

And virat goes in with 4 bowlers + hardik as fifth. Among the rest no one can bowl- no one. We don't have sehwag-sachin - yuvi now who can turn their arm over. It's risky and it was proved when hardik got hurt and we dint have a fifth bowler though he came back and bowled his quota. You can't take such risk in knock out games.

I had a hunch that the middle order would have issues law of averages would catch up with the top order. was just hoping it would not be the semi final or final

I wanted SA to win the WC, then rooted for Pakistan and now, supporting home Team, England.

Too much dependency on top 3,and not keeping a solid batsman at 4 cost India the WC
