That was unexpected. Both the actual truth behind the Birendra-Sujata marriage, and Arnav's reaction to the truth. I would have expected Arnav to be more accepting of the relationship between Kumar and Birendra, unless he doesn't believe his father, doesn't believe that Dr. Kumar is the love of his life, or maybe doesn't believe that he told Sujata the truth about their marriage, or some other part of the sequence of events narrated by his father. As someone who has seen his father as an unloving, unfeeling monster for his entire life, knowing the backstory to why he behaved the way he did, and that he may have had reasons, not adequate (coz no reason can be), but a reason none the less for his behavior might be difficult to digest. When you add the spin it puts on his mother and grandmother, women he has loved all his life, who have loved him and cared for him, he probably can't get his head around this version of events...
Hopefully he will dig into these events more, find people who can corroborate stories. And then finally make peace with his father. Being homesexual in that age, and in that environment was hard. It still is. Coming out of the closet, even to ones close family takes immense strength, and that held even more true when Birendra was young. That he still tried - to Sujata, to his father shows the depth of love he held for Dr Kumar, and the strength of character to not ruin Sujata's life by trapping her in a loveless marriage.
I'm guessing Khushi will play a role in bringing him around. But we can also see the seeds of discord - Khushi befriending Arnav at Akash's behest will come back to bite her in the future, even though she likes him for himself, and is willing to take his part over Akash. And also Akash's growing feelings for Khushi are bound to cause some confusion down the line, with Arnav being unaware, and giving free reign to his feelings to grow...
Khushi's party is all set to be a dhamekar event... Can't wait!!!
