They did unquestionable things but you always understood where they were coming from and they had brilliant journeys. The white characters were tragic heroes with fatal flaws and the black birds had some of the best character journeys ever. Jaime. Theon being two of my favorites.

Those who have watched a lot of english shows will have less difficulty in digesting Bajaj with his shadiness since English shows are usually full of such characters. I mean there, 1-D white characters are a rarity.

Besides, people learn more life lessons from shady people & characters than they can ever learn from white ones.

And Martin should release those God-damn books for our sanity.😆

MY GOD I AGREE! It actually started going down hill the moment they had to cook up stuff on their own and the book material finished. The horror of what they did to Tyrion's character and literally all of them. Bran Arya, Jon omg, Jaime. AND DANNY! UGH. S8 makes my blood boil. Thankfully we'll have Martin's books for aftertaste, that is if he ever releases them.🤔

I think we have to accept the fact that morally grey characters do things that can never be justified. Not today, not a hundred years from now. But there's a difference between sympathy and empathy. Just because you don't support something, doesn't mean you also don't understand the character's motivations.

Bajaj in S1 did unquestionably debauched things. Things he can never take back and thing no one will justify. It's who he became AFTER THAT that really matters. The journey is what matters in good storytelling. I don't want characters who are white. Where's the fun in that? Where is the moral complexity in that?

As far as Komolika vs Bajaj is concerned, I think it's anyway far too soon to call a judgement. Her initial track is over, his haven't even properly began for us to sit here and play judge. Let's see it play out. But even if we have to go for surface level, Komolika was a half baked, one dimensional villain. She was also a narcissist and just plain stupid and didn't really evolve or have a character graph for people to hook onto. With Bajaj, it's different. Even if you put aside season assertions, Bajaj is intriguing because he's neither white nor completely black. He's shown sharp intellect, a backstory that you want to learn more about and his motivations are mostly in the dark for now. Which makes for excellent potential.

I can't justify the shit some of my most favorite characters do. And why should I? I would've probably dumped Game of Thrones on the first episode if that was the case. Journeys matter. The question that hooks you matters. And people following the journey of Bajaj right now are interested in watching his character go from point A to point B because there are so many possibilities. Everyone has a thing for something. Some people dig characters like Anurag. I find him flat for now. Who knows what the future holds.

This. Couldn't have put it better. I guess for most Bajaj fans it's the same that the journey matters. For me, AP set out at a different high level together in S1 and then all they had was downfall. Rather I would crave for a story which starts at the lowest and reaches a new height because at the end of the day, it gives hope and not disappointment. 😆 The 8 yr leap was the turning point for the journey of all 3 characters. AP went SO downhill especially with Anurag's character that it became impossible for a Prerna fan like me to want my fav char with such man. The curve matters and I want it to go upwards for the characters I am rooting for.

PRB stayed together till eternity, in this very earth they were the most mortal couple because they had rectified all their actions and mistakes when time was still in favour of them. I guess one of the main reasons it worked with most audience than the other couples.

And yes, white characters are hell boring. 😆😊

I'm a difficult person which is why I CAN NEVER RELATE to mary sues and white characters. Plus the journey is so much more intriguing with grey characters. It's literally the whole how will this character go from Point A to Point B because it actually seems impossible in that moment of time. And that impossibility hooks the reader.

And I love it when you cannot answer a question in black or white. I love it when we have to take a hard look at who we are, redefine our boundaries, understand human psyche better, and accept we're all animals, each wearing a different level of civility every now and then.

Agreed. American shows have some of the best grey characters. If written right, which is a tall order for KZK's completely shitty writing team, Bajaj 2 can be one of the most iconic characters.

The biggest damage to the Night King. I didn't watch this show in so much detail along with Bran's useless journey only for Night King to be killed in 5 seconds by Arya Stark's super-strength on her own. They literally made every other character useless with that.

As for Martin, I am genuinely worried about what if he takes off before completing the books.

But anyways it's done now. And since we don't want mods to give a warning on no other shows discussion allowed, GOT rant has to stop here.

My only fascination with the show right now is Bajaj & his shadyness. It's rare for ITV to come up with characters like him.

Also one of Bajaj's most underrated qualities post the leap was once his house became Prerna's it was HER HOUSE. Basu Bari had never really been hers, a fact the members and Anurag made evidently clear when they threw her out of it countless times. And even though Bajaj and Prerna had many fights and MUs, it was always Bajaj jo gayab hojaata tha. And Prerna was left to stare at his photo and cry.😆 It's such an underrated thing but in the power dynamic of many desi households house security is something a woman fears all her life. But even during their worst of fights Bajaj never brought possessions and power play btw them. So at the end what really mattered was how A vs B handled such situations and Bajaj beat him by a mile

AGREE. White characters bore me to death.

*also probably shouldn't be discussing S1 so i'll stop here sorry.*😆

@ Amigos - SO true. I always felt proud even at that point of time that Prerna's hit a jackpot in Bajaj where she could really claim their whole life as hers. Remember that family friend episode ? Well Prerna was so right, she literally created that 'home', her 'nest'. Everything about that family was hers. A woman with her quality and stature deserved nothing less, and definitely not a house like Basu family where murderers plot to kidnap their own child or a 'good' (or may be by this forum standard, 'flawed') man hits his wife for making independent professional decisions (Geeta Kaaki and her husband). Yes, PRB too had their weak moments where Prerna in her angry mode would disapprove Bajaj of being Sneha's father or Bajaj, in his angry times would disapprove Prerna of any rights on BTN etc., but at the end of the day, their actions mattered more. Their journey as a couple was really heart-touching and they stood out amidst the other sore losers of the show 😆. At one point I liked Anurag and Aparna's relationship too, they too shared a good understanding and respect, but Ekta HAD to ruin it didn't she .

Edit - oops, just saw your last note, I will stop here too. 😆 Nice chatting on this. 👍🏼

Well, I know the question can call for a lot of arguments but from where I see what exactly is the difference between Komo and Bajaj?

In season 1

Komo marries Anu knowing that he loves Pre, betrays him, aborts his child, tries to snatch his property and etc etc.

Bajaj.. Lusts over Prerna, Anu's would be wife and his son's mother. He has three grown up kids, an entire empire, still goes after Anu's empire (god knows why) and snatches his wife. Dies for sometime, comes back with long hair, stalks a married prerna now, takes inappropriate pictures of her sleeping on his bed, sends it to Anu. In the meantime with Komolika, plans to create rift between AnuPre and prem gets killed in the process, AnuPre devastated blaming each other and just like a shameless moron he gives shelter to Prerna making Anu (who by the way lost his son, his wife, his sanity and everything else) look like the main culprit... JUST WOW

In season 2

Komo repeat... Marries Anu knowing he loves Pre, snatches his property and Prerna's 2 rs house for which nobody actually gives a shit, blah and blah ..

Bajaj... already started lusting over Pre and proposed her to save a jailed Anu, knowing she is his would be wife.. In future he might not be as cruel as the older bajaj, but things will not be very different..

So my question is what is the difference between Komo and Bajaj? both are absolutely evil and has zero sense of ethics when it comes to playing with someone else's life. Anurag is flawed and some people call him spineless too (in both the seasons) but he is better than Bajaj in every way, there is a reason that Bajaj needed to snatch prerna from Anu in original season and he was insecure for all his life knowing that the repercussions of his selfish crimes led to the break up of a couple and death of their son, and similarly in this season also Bajaj is shamelessly jailing Anu without any of Anu's faults and blackmailing Pre for marriage, even after giving bhashans of loyal wives and what not.. This season is worse because the build up is not there, atleast in the original we saw how Bajaj creepily wanted prerna as she was beautiful and such a successful woman and Anurag's pride, here Bajaj proposed prerna in the first meeting itself.. LOL

PS- please if you think I am bashing Bajaj, then I am not, it is how the story was told and the best phase of kasauti ended after baja's whitewshing in the original. Do not give me the TRP record because it does not matter as even Gopi Bahu received highest TRP which obviously does not mean that whatever was shown was lovely and acceptable.

Bold: when this happened?

I see NONE ...

No difference between Komo , Bajaj and Naveen ...

They all exploited AnuPre in their misery or helpless situation for their own benefits .

No amount of sob backstory an justify that you targeted an innocent fella for your own selfish reasons.

Komo and Naveen got their due , but I see historical whitewash being repeated for Bajaj ...
