Part 17

Breakfast was eventful with all the chatter and bickering with the family… khushi was feeling overwhelmed with all the attention she was getting…. she had always craved for this but never complained or asked for… as Sheetal was everything for her… but now when she is getting all the love and care she doesnt know how to react and hence she chose to be quiet at the breakfast table.

Right now also the silence in the car was choking her… she knew anytime his questions will start and she was praying that he doesn’t intrude her privacy for now… they were driving towards his office… as he had asked or rather ordered her to join office they had left together.. Manorama had given her dahi shakkar as a good omen to start her new job at Arnav’s office… but she was nervous… actually nervous and she knew he is been observing her for quiet some time now and this was unnerving her…

Arnav please… don’t stare at me like that… shoot your questions… she said with irritation..

Why are you quiet…? I told you there is nothing to be nervous about Khushi..

Its easy for you to say that…. as you are going to your own office.. but me.. I am going to my Di’s office and after such a long time… you know they all know me.. still you want me to work there.. I mean what’s the need… I can find a job anywhere Arnav.. then why AR…

Khushi we have had this argument… why are you making me repeat.. I cannot let you go and work anywhere else.. especially till the time I am confident that you are fine.. I want you to be in front of me.. so that I can be assured that you are fine..

You cant babysit me always Arnav.. I am not a child.. I can very well take care of myself….she said in annoyance….

Suddenly the car screeched and came to a stop…. Khushi looked at his face… Ohooo… she has awaken the lion now… she gulped in nervousness looking at his angry form..

He removed the seat belt and pulled her form to him….. let me get this straight Khushi… the more you will argue with me.. the more I will make you do what you don’t want to do.. so its better and good for you if you silently obey me without any questions.. as I know very well what is good for you

I have told you before as well your life belongs to me now.. so do as I say…he finished…. both were breathing hard….

Are you gonna make me your slave Arnav.. for what I did to you….

Oouch… that hurt… she knew she touched his nerve… but he didn’t react.. he is ready for her harsh words if that is how he can make her understand… he gulped his emotions… if that is what you think about me.. let it be… but you.. are not going away from me… he said with intense emotions.. his eyes touching her soul…

Few tears escaped her eyes…. Arnav….. she said in a whisper… her pleading tone was his undoing…

Don’t Khushi… don’t make it difficult for me.. I am holding myself on a thin thread.. and you are driving me nuts… don’t break my resolve…

Do I still deserve you?… She asked in a shivering voice….

I don’t know… I don’t know anything Khushi… he said while caressing her face.. wiping her tears which were cutting his heart into pieces….

All I know is that I still… closing his eyes he continued… I still love you… every inch of you… and the more you push me… more I will be coming back to you….

She burst into tears and hugged him tight…. She didn’t say anything and he let her cry on his shoulders….

She didn’t realize that they had reached AR and were in the parking lot… and anybody can walk in…

She pulled herself back.. wiping her tears and adjusting her disheveled form….

I am .. I am sorry… she said….

But I am not….she heard him

She looked at him shocked…. there was a smirk on his face and it irritated her again…

You like to irritate me don’t you? She asked in annoyance…

Oh I love to.. he said with a smile.. now be a good girl and get down of the car… we need to work…

And don’t worry… it will be fine…

Arnav.. what if they say something… she asked…

Its none of their business Khushi and you are not liable to answer them, so relax its our life

They entered the lobby and what she saw made her shocked…

Welcome darling…. Lavanya screamed with Joy… the whole staff was also present…

Lavanya gave her the bouquet of roses and said.. welcome to AR.. Khushi hugged Lavanya with a smile… Lavanya could feel she was nervous..

Guys… meet my best friend and our new joinee.. Ms. Khushi… she will be assisting me in design department.. though fashion is not her line.. but I wanted her to work in AR… many of you know her already… yes you guessed it right.. she is Sheetal’s sister… there were murmurs going on between employees and this made Khushi more nervous..

So… quiet everyone.. can I have your attention please… I know you all love AR like your family and I want you all to welcome her to your family with open arms and not with gossips… Lavanya said in a firm voice…

We all know what had happened in last few years… lets not go into past and spoil the office atmosphere.. she is here to work and make friends as well and I hope you all will co-operate with her.

Everyone came and welcomed khushi with a smile and Arnav felt relaxed looking at Khushi’s smiling face.. her initial nervousness gone….

That’s Lavanya… the tigress of AR… he knew with Lavanya by Khushi’s side no one will dare to bother her… such was her hold on the employees of AR…

He had shared his worry with Lavanya about Khushi being nervous to join AR and she had assured him that she will take care of everything… and she did it…

Lavanya….

Thanks…. Khushi said

For what? Lavanya asked…

For being my shield… Khushi said with a smile..

You know me… I cannot leave your side… and anyways.. I did it for him.. she said pointing at Arnav.. who was indulged in a conversation with Aman and NK.

Khushi looked at Arnav and gave a questioning look to Lavanya..

Right now more than you.. he needs assurance that you will be fine… so how can I disappoint him… your safety and care is his priority…

Khushi gave a hesitant smile and nodded… I know…

Come let me introduce you to my team..

Soon Khushi became busy… It didn’t felt like she is gonna work for the first time in AR… Lavanya gave her a brief overview of the kind of work they are doing… since Khushi was an architect by profession.. Arnav wanted her to do something related to that and hence he asked Lavanya to give her the responsibility of their new upcoming Dubai branch.

Khushi was sceptical and nervous to take the new project in hands and Arnav knew she needed a push.

Lets meet for lunch after half an hour and discuss he said…. Khushi agreed..

So hows the wedding preparation going on Lav… Khushi asked..

Oh don’t ask.. I tell you NK’s mom is one crazy women…

Haww Lav… shaadi se pehle Saas ki buraai.. Khushi teased…

Lavanya laughed at that.. no ..don’t get me wrong but more than me and NK she is excited for our wedding..

You know I am an orphan.. so all this just overwhelms me and she pampers me so much… every weekend we have a big shopping list and she will drag me to buy everything that I may or may not need… I even told her that I work for a fashion house, have enough and can manage.. but she being herself will not listen, its just like she wants to shower all her love on me in the form of shopping and food… now a days I mostly eat at NK’s house… if possible she would have made me stay with her….

Khushi felt so happy listening to the love and care Lavanya was getting…

You happy she asked?

More than I could have imagined… NK’s love was always my strength and now his parents being my side I feel on top of the world… I even asked NK’s Dad to shift their business here so that we all can stay together and they are planning for it..

And what about you Khushi.. have you gelled with Arnav’s family…

Khushi was silent….

Khushi… answer me Lavanya asked..

Lav as you said… I too am not used to a family environment.. all this attention and love is overwhelming me and sometimes I don’t know how to react to it… Arnav’s family is being so nice to me… they are treating me as if I am their daughter….

So what’s wrong in it…. Lavanya asked..

I don’t know.. I really don’t know what I want.. sometimes I feel like leaving that house and staying alone… but I know Arnav will not let me go… off let he has become so stubborn.. doesn’t listen to me at all.. Khushi said in irritation and Lavanya laughed at her comment..

You have troubled him a lot dear… now its his turn… so bare it… saying so Lavanya left and Khushi just pondered on her words…

No Lavanya.. what I did to him was not just a trouble.. it shattered him… it destroyed so much and in return to it.. he is not doing anything.. and that’s my problem.. I cant take it… his care.. his affection and.. his love… I am not ready for it….

Khushi……Arnav knocked at her cabin….he didn’t hear her voice so came inside and saw she was lost in her thoughts..

Khushi….

Huhhh… she finally noticed him.. ya.. ya.. Arnav..

Are u ok? He asked worried at her lost face…

Ya.. Im fine.. what will happen to me?

Arnav rolled his eyes.. ok then lets have lunch…

I will have with Lavanya… she said not looking at him…

Lavanya has gone out with NK… so… any more excuses… lets go.. saying so he opened the cabin door for her and she didn’t had an option other than obeying him.

They reached his cabin…

He dialed at the reception…

Hello…

Leena… I am having lunch.. no calls for next hour and don’t let anyone come inside my cabin..

Yes sir Leena answered… she could see from the glass wall that Arnav and Khushi were inside the cabin…

What was the need to tell her that.. what will she think.. she saw me coming to your cabin…Khushi asked

So.. how does it matter.. and I generally don’t allow calls when I am having lunch.. did the same today as well.. nothing different Arnav said bringing the lunch back and taking a seat on the small dining corner he had in his cabin..

Arnav.. You don’t understand.. I don’t want questions to arise in their mind.. it gives way to office gossip… Khushi said..

You heard Lavanya Khushi.. she will not entertain any such stuff and trust me my employees are really scared of Lavanya he said with a smile…

She cant be behind them 24x7… doubts will arise in their mind.. for them I am your late wife’s sister… it will not take time for them to make assumptions, Arnav was angry now..

Khushi how many times you are gonna repeat the same thing.. and how many times should I tell you that I don’t care what my employees say.. I do what I feel right..

But I do care Arnav. I don’t want people to talk behind me…

That’s because you let people effect you.. the day you stop that.. it will not bother you.. he said in irritation

Khushi I don’t understand.. you are a head strong girl.. always been independent and taken care of yourself even though you didn’t had any back up in your life and that’s the thing I have always admired about you and sheetal.. you both in spite of all the hardships in life have never given up .. then how does what some random people say can effect you and anyways.. we are just having lunch.. big deal..

Its waste arguing with you Khushi said…. then don’t .. Arnav said..

Now lets eat .. I am really hungry and I cant wait when I have delicious home food waiting for me… Payal bhabhi has made special dishes and she had ordered me to make you eat as well..

Now be a good girl saying so he was about to serve.. when Khushi stopped him..

I will serve, she took the box from him and started serving… he couldn’t help from staring at her.. will he ever have the fortune of having this domesticity in his life with Khushi he wondered..

Arnav….Arnav… she shook him…

They continued having lunch without knowing that very down the cabin there were murmurs going on…

So leena… you are saying that they entered the cabin and then ASR told that he doesn’t want any calls or any one to disturb him right… Seema said… Seema was one of those employees who get immense pleasure in office gossip and to peep in others lives.

Guys… please don’t have these talks at my desk… if Lavanya Ma’am will come to know she will skin me alive… didn’t you hear what she said in the morning.. she doesn’t want any one to gossip about Khushi…

Ya.. Ya… she is anyways a Hitler.. I wonder how that Lawyer Mr. NK got ready to marry her.. I pity him…

You don’t have to pretty lady… they heard a voice from behind…and turned around to see the horror in front of them… NK was standing right there smiling at them..

You see… he said coming to their desk…. I love to marry a Hitler kind of girl… just wanted to know if you have any problem with that..? he asked in a sarcastic way..

N. ..Noo… No.. Mr. NK.. who are we to say anything or to have problems.. we were just… said seema stuttering….

Hmmm… Nk said giving a stern look and decided to leave while turning back for one last time..

As you said She is a Hitler… so.. you better be careful before saying anything about Khushi.. she will really skin you alive if she comes to know about this saying so he left..

See I told you.. you idiot don’t gossip here… what if he tells this to Lavanya Ma’am… oh god my job is gone said Leena getting scared…

Relax Leena.. Seema said…these things cant be hidden for long and you think Lavanya Ma’am can close everybody’s mouth.. people can talk behind her as well…lets wait and see where this goes…

The day was eventful for Khushi… Arnav conducted a meeting with Khushi Lavanya Aman and other team mates… he discussed with Khushi about the plan and model for his Dubai office and gave her the opportunity to express her views… she had lost touch for long but she didn’t disappoint him.. as she knew he had given her the chance to prove herself…

She asked him one week’s time to prepare a design model for the Dubai office after taking all his inputs and requirements, she was excited… it was like all this was boosting her lost confidence.

It was 7 in the evening and Khushi didn’t even realize how the time flew.. she was too involved in her work until she heard a knock on her door….

She looked ahead to see Arnav smiling at her… Ghar nahi jaana… don’t want to go home? He asked with a smile….

She looked at the time and realized it was 7… God its seven.. I didn’t see the time….

Ya… you were too involved in your work… come lets go… he said..

Give me 5 mins.. I will just wind up….

Later they walked towards parking… and left for home… again there was silence in the car…

Arnav.. please from tomorrow I will come on my own.. please listen to me..

Khushi when you know its a futile discussion why you even try pacifying me.. Arnav said..

Khushi huffed and puffed murmuring curses in her mouth…

Gaali de rahi ho? Are you abusing me? He asked with a smile..

Arnav please don’t give that idiotic smirk and smile of yours it irritates me more.. she said gritting her teeth..

And I love riling you up.. he said while winking his eyes at her.. and her mouth went in an OOOO….

Don’t you dare flirt with me Mr.Raizada…. she said while pointing her finger towards him…

He chuckled and held her finger to slightly pull her… do I have anyone else to flirt with Khushi…? its you and only you…. he said in a whisper and she gulped…. her heart started beating at a marathon speed..

She pulled her finger and turned the other side being quiet…. he could see .. she was panting and nervous like hell…. he had not intended to flirt with her.. but if this is how he will get her to react then he wanted to try his luck… he wanted to bring back the old days when he had the best time of his life with Khushi.. wanted to make her realize that life can be beautiful again if she takes few steps ahead towards him…

They finally reached home and she got down even before he could say anything.. when they entered home everyone was in the hall..

Khushi dear… you came back… Hariprakash… bring tea for Khushi and Arnav..

No Maa… I will just go and change.. Khushi said not wanting to sit with him again..

Khushi… today was your first day.. I know you are tired.. so go and freshen up and come back soon.. we would like to listen how was your first day Payal said..

Ji Bhabhi.. saying so Khushi left not looking at him who was continuously staring at her…

God why is he doing this…

She reached her room and quickly closed her door and leaned back on it closing her eyes.. trying to recollect the day’s events…. She was confused…nervous like hell..but on the other hand his actions brought back some old memories… memories which were long forgotten.. she was scared to go back on that path again.. but for a moment her heart did a happy dance when.. when he flirted with her… She didn’t wanted to ponder any more and went to change..

Arnav.. where are you lost Manorama asked…

Hows Khushi.. is she ok… she was looking lost as well.. what happened?

Nothing Maa… I am trying to bring back normalcy in her life… she has started working and today I saw a spark in her while working.. it was like her lost confidence was back

But then she looked nervous.. did anything else happened… Payal asked..

He smiled…

Arnav… you will not tell us.. Payal asked teasing him…

Bhabhi I will tell you when I will achieve what I want… I am trying to make her feel what she doesn’t want to feel.. somewhere in heart I know she still have feelings for me.. I am trying to bring it out.. she has closed her heart and built a wall around it.. I want to break that wall and once again enter in her heart.. it will take little time.. but I am sure its not very far…

Maa.. I want her.. I want her back in my life.. I.. I just cant live without her anymore… and I am ready to give whatever it takes to make her understand the same..

Manorama smiled…. It will happen Arnav we all trust you… and soon Khushi will come back to you…

Hey Guys.... I'm back.... I know had been away and really hate to keep you all waiting...

Did you miss my updates? dont know.. but things have started being normal for me and I'm trying to take time out to update my story as I really want to finish this story with a nice ending..

I had lost touch and hence don't know whether I have been able to meet your expectations with this update, but do let me know whether you liked it or not...

Amazing update

Loved how Arnav is trying to make Khushi comfortable and come out of her guilt trip. How much ever we ignore or don't care what people think behind our back, there will be people like Seema who are more interested in other people's lives than their own. For them they need people like Lavanya to show their own fault and shut their mouth. Glad to see Arnav deciding to get his Khushi back in his life and make it happen. Hope Khushi to meet Arnav in the middle and build back her relationship with him and move on in her life without holding on to her past.
