There is a difference which these serials don't show. The concept of 7th janam is in scriptures. It is not in Hindu Marriage Act,1955 which is based on Hindu personal law.

The scriptures also contained grounds of divorce. There are various texts on this. But the Television has taken only that 7th janam concept.

The problem that are various interpretations of a single scripture.So, you cannot pin point a single thing to be right.

Plus, the stories differ. If you see in Maharashtra, there is concept of Vata Savitri Pooja for husband's life and myths attached to it.

Being a lawyer and a law student its my job to tell this. Plus, I don't like when television shows wrong laws. But can't help it.

Now this mutual consent divorce also doesn't happen this fast. There is a time slot for couples to solve their problems. The Family Courts also try to save a marriage.
