When there is no seeming head or tails always look for the core. Similar is the case with Sameer. He feels too ashamed of his own failures and too pained by the betrayal that he doesnt want to communicate in words what he has been through. The silence he is using as his shield is simultaneously choking him. The way I see it Sameer saying that Naina is not the same and his anger at her has lots of layers to penetrate through.
1. He constantly feels like he doesn't deserve her. During Munna's rishta talks when Munna's father said that its always the man income girl's parents should watch out for her, he remembered what Mama had done to him and that he has no source of income anymore. In a society where men's worth was measured by his income Sameer feels like an additional pressure has been weighed on him because of which he cant tell Naina, scared that he will emasculate himself or Naina will see him as less of her hero.
2. He knows Naina has sensed a change in him and his actions but is angry that she is looking at all this at the surface and not thinking underneath. He feels she is not trying to ponder why he has changed. Why he said what he did? Ultimately its not Naina's fault here either because he never spoke of his experiences at work. But he expects her to somehow gauge out his deep hurt like she had back when he was in Delhi or when he was falling for her in school. The difference is though that Naina knew Sameer had suffered a huge loss then and could understand his unspoken trauma and pain. She is unaware now- completely in the dark.
The main draw-away from these thoughts is that Sameer has too many emotions swirling through him to make sense of things around him. He is too clouded in the head with the sudden rush of betrayal, loneliness, sadness, anger, pressure, and loss of income source. The only way to calm down is to have Naina there who he pushed away himself. Irony at its best. He needs to open up!
