Part 1: Happiness
Engaged.
She had actually gone ahead with this engagement.
'Pat your back Khushi Kumari Gupta' she thought to herself with some amount of triumph and some amount of an emotion she did not recognise, a nagging emotion she should not recognise.
It had been different, less than year ago. He had been exactly where she wanted him.
But well, things changed and this was war.
Khushi Kumari Gupta took everything in her stride. She never lost. Never.
Shaking her head she proceeded to take centre stage with her, now fianc.
While in context to her madness to have gone ahead with the engagement caused a pair or two, to feel a sense of disdain with a temptation of anger surfacing on the edges.
She had actually gone ahead with this engagement.
Arnav was angry. Scratch that, he was livid. How dare she pull this off, she was supposed to come running to him, confessing that she still loved him and only him.
Instead she went ahead and got engaged to his cousin. His damned cousin.
'All the lovely couples, please join our couple of the moment on stage. Let's have a blast.' said his Mami as she welcomed everyone to join the stage.
Blast? Arnav smirked, this was his moment to give a piece of his mind to the couple of the bloody moment.
He slowly made his way towards her, while her fianc of twenty minutes excused himself to attend his call of nature.
Encircling her waist, hearing her gasp and looking at her bewildered face he started moving smoothly along the stage, dancing 'So Khushi, Congratulations!' he whispered into her ear, blowing a lot of air on her ear, smelling her flavour knowing fully well, she wasn't going to take this well.
'Arnav! What.are.you.doing?'
Rolling his eyes at her dumbness, 'Dancing with the newest addition to the Raizada Parivaar.'
'Bhabhi, Arnav. Bhabhi for you' she was talking sarcasm and that set him off.
'I'll show you what is it for me' saying so he pulled her closer, twirling her in two circles, they were off the stage.
Back stage, pushed into a pillar she looked up to see rage in his soft molten brown eyes, his hands on her waist, sliding higher onto what was now the forbidden territory. He softly, pressed onto her dress over the upper half of her waist, slightly touching the corners of the said territory.
He was quick to see her reaction at that. She was holding her breath and her eyes gave away, he leaned in closer to her face, their noses were touching. He was moving his thumb up and down slowly, as though feel the material of her dress, where he actually was almost touching her around her weakest spot.
'Don't touch me there, you know that melts me' she somehow said straight against his face.
'Touch you where?' he was having fun now, she was turned on and she was embarrassed.
He kept repeating the movement when suddenly she kept her hand on his hand, held it tight with her fingers fitting into his, massaging the space between his fingers and moved it away.
She moved his hand away.
'You started this Raizada. Now wait your turn'.
She fumed and walked away leaving ASR gaping behind at her back.
The feel of her fingers still lingering around his, he fisted his palm and kissed it a promise.
A promise he knew he needed just as much as she did.
She had actually gone ahead with this engagement.
Her fianc gaped at the single studded diamond ring. It was a challenge thrown at his face, not too many months ago and ASR always won. Always. But only, not at the cost of his friend's life. Not at the cost of his happiness, his Khushi's life. He had known her for years, they went all the way back to college.
-Past-
'My name is Anjali Verma, I've been here in Mumbai all my life. I have never been anything more than a class monitor but I am more than capable of upholding all my responsibilities. Please cast me a vote to be the Class Representative and I assure you we will do just a lot more than only the regular work and play' she said it all in one breath, it was almost impossible for anyone to not be convinced by her.
It was the first day of college, and after the Class Rep speeches, of course everyone had to introduce themselves.
'I am a ladies man, so you all can trust me with your little gossips girls!' he said with a wide smile spread across his face. Not flirty, genuine.
He looked around to see if anyone got anything apart from either smirking at him, or giving him the flirty look. That's when his eyes saw another very genuine smile, it wasn't just a smile. It was a rare 32 and a half teeth that shined at him. It was more like she looked happiness.
Seated next to the new Class Rep, Anjali Verma was happiness 'Hey hey I am Khushi Gupta! I am talkative and I'm a force reckoned. Je suis dynamique.'
Khushi. She was just like her name. Happy. And wait, what was that? French? He was intrigued. But he just looked on as her and Anjali went out of class for lunch.
Heading out of college as their first day at college finally ended, he saw them again. This time happiness was trying hard to catch an auto, 'F@#ker! Why did you stop the auto if you didn't want to head to my location?!' x 4.
She said that to 4 autodrivers and all of them looked at her disapprovingly. He was about to offer her a ride home, but it was too soon. And he was sure she was going to take it the wrong way. Shaking his head he walked off, when his she called out to him, the Class Representative called out to him.
He went towards them, but instead of Anjali Verma the said CR, he heard the happy little girl talk with zest like no other.
'Hey, you are in my class right? I know because duh, I've obviously got eyes and your introduction was quite cool and dudeee do you wanna go grab some samosa and jalebi from the gourmet?' again, she spoke in one breath.
'Hey, yes and may I add you have such a lovely smile' he said laughing his head off at how excited she got.
After eating all the food in the world, she spoke again 'Hi I am Khushi, and this is Anjali'.
'So are you two friends from before?' he was certain that they were since they were glued to each other since the beginning of the day.
'Oh no no! We just met this morning' they said together, almost together.
That was so cool. Two people who could hold a conversation with anybody was a surprise to him, that was so much like he was.
'Oh we didn't exactly catch your name'
Laughing a little, 'I am the ladies man, my name is...'
'LISTEN..LISTEN. Stop looking at the ring like that'
He was pulled out of the first glimpse of the past, with that.
-Present-
'What it is Happiness?' he mumbled still a little lost in the past, knowing well he was going to think about it in time to come. Think over it too.
'You called me Happiness. Are you okay?' Khushi knew he called her happiness only when he was the happiest or when he did not know what was he doing.
'Perfectly. Let's dance?'
As they danced with each other, she knew he was going to get lost again so she purposely kicked him a little on his butt when he turned around.
'Ahh! Khushi! What are you doing? I am wearing a light color'
'Don't you remember doing the same choses, in college too?'
'It wasn't so bad'
'It was, you kicked me and spanked'
'Happiness!'
'What happened Aman?' batting her eyelashes at him she was sure she had pushed them both into the past, not just him this time.
And how she wished it all came back. Not all maybe.

...To be continued.
Je suis dynamique - I am dynamic.
choses - things.
Okay so that was Part 1.
There are things that will unravel, so worry not if you don't solve the mysteries right now! I know this chapter was a little slow but please keep up with me and I hope the magic of this story and the awesomeness of ArHi does its job.
