Its a huge business. And most of their victims are abandoned old people, beggars, mentally ill people, orphans.. Very rarely do they pry upon people with families or someone to care for and most of those cases are where the person has rarest of rare group or match to their highest bidder.

There's a bill passed by the Lok Sabha to ban commercial surrogacy. So, you can still get people in your family or friends to surrogate for you. Just not for money. And anyway the bill needs to pass in Rajya Sabha too to become a law. So, the law is not in place yet, it is in the process. It is to stop the exploitation of poor women.

Wow, congrats to her. I believe people have the right to choose if they want to adopt, use surrogacy or IVF or go natural. In the end, they are the ones making a lifelong commitment to caring for a human being and they don't need to be forced about it. If there are alternatives, then why go into moral policing them. Just my opinion.

Thats the most common con private hospitals n maternity homes do. Another few instances are where they place an already dead patient on life support (fake) and keep billing the family ti they can pull off the con. There are cases when they actually with-hold the body till the family pays all the dues. Money is charged for treating a dead body

I can guarantee that happens. My dad is a doctor n he has seen pretty disturbing stuffs . But he isn't involved with private hospitals so doesn't know much . But he does say it happens n often the interns who r not totally business minded yet try to argue n indicate to the family that this is what is happening plz go somewhere else.

I HV a friend who is an intern in gynecology department now in a small town of WB n she says at times I wanna cry. The hospitals don't even HV equipment yet they don't admit n then end up losing patientsp lives.

Also, there r certain doctors who makes u do 1000 tests in the nursing home even though u need none. Not only is your money gone,u go through tension, HV invasive procedures done on u.

I think this happened last year in Kolkata in a private hospital. Most of the times it's the private hospitals that end up doing this. They're very business minded.

In govt hospitals the problem is different. The govt has made every hospital super speciality without the equipment manpower or infeainfrastru. So now doctors in govt hospitals face inhuman loads n doctor beating by patient families r common . Many patients families just come n say we know this political neta treat our son or werew gonna make u cry. Then political netas come in n disrespect n basically say u guys r doing nothing doctor k nam pe u people r useless .

Healthcare is messed up. Though there r still good doctors n nurses n hospitals

ok, this makes sense... even i had read stories about such transplants... but recently an acquaintance's 18 year old daughter needed a kidney transplant but none was available, in the donor bank, so they had to convince a family member...eventually the grand mother donated...she was asked tonnes of questions to make sure she isnt being forced into donating... any which ways her kidney is biologically old...so in another 10-15 years the girl will have to undergo another transplant...unfortunately all this happened cause that girl took some tablets from a so-called dietitian, to loose weight

I can understand. Yes healthcare in India is due for a major overhaul. Hope it happens soon.

Oh poor girl kidney transplant r so expensive n often the donated kidney doesn't even work n u gotta get another transplant. I hope she finds a donor again.

It infuriates me that a process that could help so many needy people ended up being a way to earn cash for some sick mediators . N now patients suffer.

I still do think u can donate though but like u said a lot of questions r asked. My dad told me an incident of a guy who came to him get a usg done. The guy had donated his one kidney to a tea seller he met on train. He being a great human being heard about his kidney being damaged n donated,to this absolute stranger.few years later his own only kidney got damaged. The guy apparently died sonn while the tea seller is now healthy with his kidney
