After few days, she said that iska jyaada hai, uska jyaada hai, this girl is overpowering, that girl is overpowering.

Even Kashibai's (Prajakta Mali) parts which I had shot, have been deleted to a large extent.

so her problem was not only with the male actors but female actors too. wow what a feminist😆

On a serious note this movie is make or break fr kangna in industry ..if it works she will always hv the dominance in her every movie and noone will question her but if it fails then no producer will give in to her bizzare demands anymore ..

Aamir did same with taare zameen par old director and as fan I dint like it ..but he went onto achieve success with the movie ..so noone questioned him..lets see if kangna can do the same ..

@bold : even if it works, will other directors willingly take the risk ?

Aamir was changing things from day one. He didn't go in and take credit for other filmmaker's work.. adding bits and claiming this is all his.
There were clearly delineated differences that were addressed from beginning.
Kangana went on to change stuff after Krish FINISHED the movie. She got the producer onboard and went on to remove characters and add more ME time.

Whichever way.. this movie is not looking like it will recover costs/make profit.
So there's that

Well yeah Aamir fm start itself took over ..dint make changes later ..

Supporting characters play significant roles in film's success ..one big example was PC as kashibai in bajirao mastani ..so the whole debate of she is playing title role so noone else needed dont work here bec a protagonist alone cannot do much if u dont hv a strong antagonists or supporting characters to mk the protagonist look like the protagonist ..

Yeah, you are right, she can't be criticized, because we'll never know which part was directed by him or her. Sad na.😛

Duh!!! It's a biopic and she's be playing the titular character. Of course she'll be on the screen 95% of the time. What did you expect?😆

The first half is - unanimously agreed- Kangu centric and syrupy story. Krish doesn't do 'syrupy'.
Besides.. I have already said - Krish himself admits she did patchwork - as in she mixed in scenes with his scenes- so it's hard to delineate. I 've already discussed that above.. that is a smart move on her part.. as it's harder to see where she added her own stuff... whether Krish diod something good /bad or it's her stuff that's good /bad.

no need to reiterate it, I hope 😉.
Watch other biopics. The central character DOES interact with secondary characters. There' sNO other movie in which central character is on 95% of time.. cmon !
She might be on 70% or 80% even... but FOR THE PLOT TO WORK.. you need some BACKSTORY on antagonists.. other plotting characters and so on,
Cmon.. stop pretending you don;t get it.

A biopic also involves other people AROUND central character.. not just main character on every page every scene every line.

Why are you even mentioning national award when you consider it useless? Or is it a useless only when Kangana wins them?😆

Aamir put his money on it... He put Amol's name has creative director which comes before his name. Every character in the movie has a scope... even the Dad and the other teachers... Can not compare Kangana with Aamir.

In fact he did a supporting role in the movie, keeping the kid at the forefront...TZP is a masterpiece...Manikarnika- well, lets see...but going by the reviews, its safe to say that it isn't a Masterpiece for sure!

This female is so insecure that she didn't even hesitate to mess with the director's name, forget putting his name before hers...

About TZP...I wasn't aware at that time of all the hullaboo about it but after googling what I found is that that Aamir took over from the concept stage itself not after the movie was completely shot by the other director?

Taare Zameen par was Amol Gupte's pet project... check his interview in 2008..

<b1>Did you anticipate such an overwhelming response to TZP?
Actually, this was just a part of the ongoing children's projects that my wife Deepa Bhatia and I share. For us Project Child is a journey. TZP was an important part of that project. We waited two years for Aamir to just listen to our script.
I knew Aamir from our college and theatre days. After that he shot a short film with me in the lead. So did Aamir's cousin Mansoor. So I've been associated with his family for many decades.

I didn't know you were an actor!
But I wasn't the Khan family's favourite actor for sure. Otherwise, I'd have done Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Jokes aside, I didn't have the courage to ask Aamir to work in my film. I wasn't that ambitious. I asked him to help me talk to Akshaye Khanna because I had seen Akhaye portray a sensitive painter in Dil Chahta Hai. But when Aamir heard my script was about children, he said he wanted to hear the narration. That took a long time.

Even I got busy playing father to my son who was born in 2001. I put him in school and tried to be as much part of his schooling as possible. Finally, in September 2004 he heard TZP. The very next week he proposed to produce the film. Then again there was a delay because Aamir got busy with MangalPandey and his personal life.

So what exactly went wrong between you and Aamir?

I'm trying to put it behind me... Let me just say, right from choosing all the kids for the parts to the final editing, I was right there on board... I wanted to preserve the kids' natural innocence. So I never auditioned them. I used to engage them in discussions and workshops with the camera held out of their vision by an assistant.

Where did your creative inputs in

TZP

end?

They ended when Aamir, his wife, my wife and I saw the film's first edit. It's misreported that I didn't like the edited version of

TZP

. There was no question of not liking the edited version because my wife Deepa was editing the material in Panchgani as we were shooting. We were all very proud of the film. Then we had a wrap-up party. And that's when Aamir announced he was the director of the film. That's when I got to know of his intentions.

Has this betrayal made you stronger and wiser?

It has made me question myself. Where did I go wrong? Had I not been there throughout the shooting for every take including Aamir's wonderful performance, I'd have understood that I've gone wrong somewhere. But I've enacted lines for all the actors in

TZP

. It hurt a lot. But I didn't want a confrontation.

How different is the final film from what you shot?
What I shot and what you saw aren't different at all. My narration is the same as the married print. Of course, Aamir was there with me throughout.

And he didn't shoot anything on his own?
Yes, he re-shot the first six days' material. I didn't participate in that because I stood by the rushes of my first six days' shooting. However, what he shot wasn't radically different from my style.

The standard inference is that the project was taken over from you?
I don't understand this business of taking over. When I was around how could the project be taken over? What would any competent director be doing for 109 shooting days? It makes no sense at all.

Exactly.
Well chosen example.
Kashibai was supposed to be a Secondary character yet it gave SO MUCH to the whole dynamic of the movie.. even if RS and DP were the MAIN characters.
Also you need a strong antagonist to create contrast- see Khilji on Padmavaat.

In fact, Bajirao-Kashibai's dialogue is THE HIGHLIGHT of the movie for me ( when she is extinguising lamps and talks about HER pride, the Radha/Krishna story comparison and so on).
Imagine BM with Kashibai's role drastically reduced😕

Edited to add: Baahubali has a great negative character that takes A LOT of space in Ran a Dagubatti. Jodha-Akbaar also spends time on secondary characters and antagonists.
Every historical that SUCEEDS has well fleshed out MAIN hero(heroine) ..BUT THEY ALSO HAVE GREAT ANTAGONISTS/Secondary characters.
You can't paint a picture in one color..it's too bland.. You need many colors to make a great picture.
