OT: I'm disappointed in RS for this comment. First of all, she was a bigger star than him when they started dating and still is today. This comment coming from him, as a husband now, seems demeaning. Like he wants to emphasise on her "proper wife" type qualities now. Usually, when someone highlights such qualities and downplays those like ambition, drive, independence, it is to try and put out that kind of image. Where he is the man of the house and she is the woman in the traditional terms. You can't suddenly after marriage say stuff that will be misinterpreted for sure. Gharelu is not a compliment.
Also, Deepika has said that she likes to organise stuff at home and maybe take care of things, cook, clean or whatever. Sure. If somebody says this about themselves, it is another matter. But when their partner uses such a word for them, then it is a problem. Also, while I don't think the word itself is demeaning because I've seen many guys who like to stay home instead of go out and party on weekends or cook and clean. But this word is usually used as a way to describe women who are domestic instead of male who are domestic. Maybe women just don't think to use this word in regard with men. But because this word is usually addressing women, that's why it seems to have a misogynistic connotation where you're trying to reduce a woman to being a good homemaker only. This is really bad and I hope Deepika drills some sense into him for this.
it all comes down to ranveer's interpretation of the word, ranveer did not use it in a offensive way, for you gharelu may not be a compliment but ranveer was saying the word with the intention of a compliment, i mean this is deepika he is talking about, he is crazy about her, he wud never intend to say anything offensive about herand ranveer has never downplayed deepika's success, why do i hav to keep repeating this? ranveer has always admitted that deepika is more successful than him, that deepika earns more than him, he has always said he is the most proud of everything she achieved and wen she didn't do a movie last year he was desperate for her to sign a film

Never knew that word 'gharelu' is offensive. 😆 What's wrong if someone wish to have gharelu wife? And why can't a working woman be gharelu as well?
