The top edge of the riding shawl pulled firmly over the pointed bridge of his nose, he rolled the reins within the tough lines of his palm, keeping his steed still as he sat, waiting.

Forest birds had long stopped singing - having given up the arena for the howls of wolves and the snarls of leopards now. The wand of the wizard of nightfall had transformed green foliage into a blanket of black clouds, and long twigs into monstrous claws. The slightest stray hint of wind was enough to send the hair on any thick skin standing.

It was eerie.

It was dark.

It was cold.

But colder and darker still were the eyes of the stranger that scoured the deathly woodlands around him, as he sat, waiting for his next victim.

Crack!

A couple of twigs cracked in the distance. He'd expected it - from the way his stallion's ears had stood up, and turned North. Soon enough, the smell of the oil of bark wafted through the mossy air. 'The bandits...' They couldn't be very far. A nuisance they were for travellers and tourists alike. But tonight they might just be the perfect means as he lay his trap.

'Do what you must, but get me the Farmaan... keep it quiet though... after the terrible scandal, we can't afford another one!'

It was not the sort of thing he did. No.

Stealing information was easy. Silencing someone even easier. Secretive. Swift. Smooth. That was his style. But exchanging pleasantries with a lady? Entertaining a noblewoman?

His chest rose and fell from a quiet listless sigh. 'Yes... yes' It WAS a critical assignment - hopefully, it'd be as quiet, swift and smooth as the ones before.

'Hush' The sides of his horse flinched, drawing his attention out. 'Hush... I heard it too... ' he stroked a firm palm along its back 'They're near...'

The Sahiba of Parnargh.

As if revising the facts, the name of the assignment came to his mind. And then his chest rose and fell again. But not from a listless sigh this time. It was from a strange sort of unrest - like a feather caught in the chambers of his chest. Was it a forewarning of some sort? But it didn't feel ominous - oddly enough, he'd experienced 'omens' in plenty of assignments to know! Whatever it was, it was unfamiliar. And it made him uncomfortable.

'Do what you must, but get me the Farmaan...'

Quiet, swift and smooth like the ones before - that'd be his style here too.

He'd make certain of it!

Feeling all uncomfortable? Now that is very peculiar!

The Sahiba of Parnagarh! His chest heaved a long sigh!

It rose and fell again at the name, what does it signify?

His hand stilled on the reign of his black steed pointedly,

What is it he heard? Cracking of twigs afar all disjointedly!

He is going to get them tonight! In the cold, eerie, dark night,

He will set traps to capture the bandits without much of a fight!

Capture bandits? No... he presumes he can use the bandits to entrap them😳

'Do get the Farmaan quietly, without any scandal this time',

Rang in his ears,'but why', he thought in this night so prime,

'Does it feel so different this time?' In the darkest of dark night,

Sitting on his stallion staring ahead at the dark ominous sight!

The trees loomed overhead like dark clouds and the way ahead -

stood in darkness in a blue hue where living beings dread to tread!

The trees in purple stood in rows with an ominous feel that deeply arose,

But the tall stranger stood fearlessly still, seeing him even the sinister froze!

The Sahiba of Parnagarh! Again the words rang through in his ears,

The unrest grew more within, but he knew not why this feel appears?

He knew he was not to be blamed for what had happened but still -

He felt a tug in his heart but he knew he had Huzoor's order to fulfill!

Hai hai how lovely...the scene in poetic form!
