6: A Sister And A Bro?
I stood silently as the papparazi surrounded me, asking me a million questions I had no interest in answering. A hand wrapped around my wrist, dragging me from the crowd.
"Aapi, I was so worried about you all night, I thought something had happened to you" Noor wrapped her arms around me tightly before pulling away. "Is something wrong, you were so happy yesterday and now" her eyes searched mine, a frown on her face
"He thinks I called the papparazi here, someone else did but they used my name" I felt heavy from the events of the night and the morning
"Surely he doesnt believe that, he likes you Aapi, a lot, like a lot, a lot, you cant give up like this, when do you ever let anyones doubt stop you"
She was right, of course, I just needed a minute to pick myself up, then I would continue living my life the way I wanted to. I smiled softly down at her, letting her know I was going to be okay.
Noor grabbed her scarf, flinging it around my neck, "I guarantee he is sat in his office all like dekha jo tum ko, yeh dil ko kya hua hai, meri dhadkanon pe, yeh chaya kya nasha hai" she sang loudly, winking at me
"Noor shh, someone will hear you, stop being silly we have to go" I tried to tug her along but she shook her head, her feet firm on the ground as she walked around me
"Mohabbat ho na jai, deewana kho na jai, sambhalu kaise isko muhje tu bata" her hands lifted cupping my cheeks "Bheegi bheegi alko se, chori chori palko se, kyon mera sapna churaye"
I couldnt help the tears that filled my eyes as I laughed, I was lucky to have a sister as great as my Kohinoor. She smiled bavk at me wriggling her brows
"Come on, wont you sing to your boss to" Noor poked her tounge out
I linked my arm through hers, walking forward with her, our heads swaying from side to side "Meri nazron pe chhaye, khushboo ke jaise aaye, mera tan mann mehkaaye, sasoon mein yeh pal pal, jaane kaise hulchul, kuch bhi samajh mein na aaye"

Noor sat across from me, "So, we need a plan of action, because if he is stupid enough to believe you did this, then he must realise what he is missing, didnt you say that weird award thing is coming up soon, you need to find a date thats not him"
"Noor, I dont want to"
"Noor I dont want to" she mimicked, jumping up, she grabbed my hands "There are many things we dont want to do, but I dont want to ever see my Aapi sad like this morning, the only way I wont go and beat your boss up is if you get some revenge yourself"
I rolled my eyes "Mong phali"
Noor gasped loudly, throwing a cushion my way "What did you just call me"
I snickered, throwing it back "I need to go to work now, I will report straight back as soon as my shift is over"
She pointed a finger my way "You better"

"Come on Zoya, stop being so nervous, what is the worst that can happen, so what if that Mr Big Shot thinks I called the stupid news people, that's his loss" I blew out a breath before pushing the office doors open and walking inside. I stopped as I saw all the workers gathered at reception, facing me as I walked in. I waved slightly, glancing around to see if the man who had stressed me out all day was anywhere near me.
"Hi Zoya ma'am, what exercise are we doing today" a woman asked
I scrunched up my face, "I was thinking, rose day passed a few weeks ago right, and I never got the chance to celebrate it, the awards evening is in a week, which gives you all time to buy a rose and gift it to someone you would like to get to know better, and if they give you one back, you go to the award ceremony with them, that way you will be able to better your bonds with people right"
"Zoya ma'am" Akansha called from behind me, making me turn to face her. She was a lovely girl, but the fact she was Adi's personal assistant made me very nervous. "Sir wants you to brief him on this weeks sessions with the staff, so he can schedule it in so you see everyone"
"Uh, I, well you see" I coughed loudly "Ive been feeling unwell, so maybe I could just tell you and you tell him" I suggested
Akansha's eyes widened "Zoya ma'am, Sir has asked for you, and if I dont return with you, im going to be in trouble, so please"
"Fine, but remember this sacrifice I made for you, you owe me big time" I watched her nod as we walked to his office together, I turned to face her quickly, grabbing her arm "Tell my sister I love her, and if im not out in ten minutes send help" I whispered before raising my hand and knocking on the door
"Come in" I heard him speak. I had to take a minute to calm my heart rate, why was I so nervous?
"Come on Zoya, pull yourself together" I was about to push the door open when it opened making me fall forward, and of course Mr Big Shot so happened to catch me, surely there should be some kind of rule where he cant touch me, that way I wouldnt get so distracted. I looked up slowly. "Oh, its you, I didnt see you there" I shrugged nonchalantly
"Zoya, you're in my office, who else were you expecting" he mused
"Well, clearly who I was expecting wasn't you, so, lets quit the small talk, and get on with our jobs" I looked down, puffing out my cheeks uncomfortably when I heard him shut the door behind him
"Ah right, our jobs, whats your plan for the week's sessions" he leant against the desk, his arms crossed
"Um, I was thinking to ask people to hand out uh, roses to people they wanted to get to know better, and if they got a rose back from that person, then they could go to the awards event with them, that way it would be like a joint front when the guests arrived and would allow staff to make new bonds, I was then going to ask people what interests them about this job and what does not so I could see what motivates them, then I was going to do some other group exercise for everyone to get to know eachother better" I finally looked up to see his eyes narrowed
"And who are you going to give a rose to Zoya"? Trust that to be the only thing he focused on
"I wasnt going to partake" I stuttered
"And what example would that be setting" he stood up, stepping closer "If im going to join in, you do to"
"Oh um, okay, look you know about earlier, I didnt"
He raised his hand "I know you didnt call them Zoya, you don't have to explain yourself, I trust you"
Not knowing how else to react, I clenched my fist, punching him in the arm "Thanks bro" the look on his face was enough to make me wish the ground would open up and swallow me whole, sadly it didnt
Hi everyone, first of all I would really like to apologise for the updates being so extremely late. I became very busy, then was caught in a fire, but am okay now, well on the road to being okay anyway. I am pretty free now until August time, so updates will be much more frequent.
Baseline Attraction is now complete, thank you for everyone who took the time to read it and finish that story with me, all the love was majorly appreciated! I know it didnt have many chapters but I think it was only meant to be a short story.
