Veere Di Wedding Does Well Over First Weekend

Veere Di Wedding had a good weekend of 35 crore nett which is well above the expectations that anybody could have had for the film even probably the makers themselves. The film has scored excellnet collections in Delhi / UP and East Punjab and tother circuits which are dominated by multiplexes are good. Mumbai has under performed for the film due to the Gujarat / Saurashtra belt which is a conservative circuit dominated by the family audience so this type of film will find it hard to collect there.


The trend is so so over the weekend and pretty flat but that was also the case for Baaghi 2 but the main difference is that Baaghi 2 had mass appreciation and was a film which was universal. Here its an urban film with limited appreciation restricted to a few cities so it could have done with more growth.


The first weekend collections of Veere Di Wedding are as follows.

The film is a success unless it crashes out on Monday but there is still work to do to become a HIT film and for that the weekdays are crucial. The hold does not need to be huge on Monday and it needs to have that normal weekday trend which will be good enough for the film.


The core Hindi film audience has not really taken to the film but it does not need to do a huge number to be a HIT film and as long as the target audience in the metros is there for the next ten days or so it should put up a good lifetime total.

Saw it tonight and laughed a ton. Lives up to expectations. Detailed review tomorrow.

Watched yesterday. Surprisingly very entertaining and funny. All four did great job in their respective roles.👍🏼 Kareena was fab though.

I watched Veera Di Wedding yesterday. It was my first chick flick experience in big screen ,first A movie in big screen and first Kareena , Sonam movie in big screen . it marked "many firsts"😆 and I loved it , I won't say it is flawless but for time pass and for good laugh this movie is one of the best.

I definitely wasn't a fan of the trailer, but I was happy to be proven wrong while watching the film. It was a solid entertainer. What I most liked was the female camaraderie the 4 girls had, I loved their friendship. And the dialogues were so relatable, the way they pulled each other's leg and pointed out each others' mistakes and shortcoming was so hilarious and real to life. 🤣 My favorite was Sonam's character, I totally related to her personality. And she looked so beautiful and cute throughout the movie. Plus her little story line with bhandari was funny, wouldn't mind seeing more of them if they ever decide to make a sequel. Other than her, Swara and Shika were also hilarious and Kareena did great. Girls gelled with each other so well. While this is not something that is going to win all the award or anything, this was still a movie that was sorely needed because we females needed to see a movie about female friendships we can relate to. And VDW REALLY delivered on that front and that is its greatest victory. Otherwise, there were quite a few faults in the screenplay, but I can overlook that because I liked the girls and their friendship so much. Here's to more movies like this coming out, and I definitely wouldn't mind watching a sequel.

Box Office: What a fantastic start it has been
for Veere Di Wedding. For a film which took
its own time to go on floors and where at
one point in time it had seemed that the
makers would shelve it, the Shashanka
Ghosh directed affair has emerged as
surprise success and a big one at that!
The film had a terrific beginning and didn't
look back after that as 36.52 crores were
accumulated in just three days. Considering
the fact that 10.70 crores had come on the
very first day, even stable numbers on the
same lines would have still been good
enough for Saturday and Sunday. However
the film continued to grow right through
the weekend and as a result the final
numbers were truly terrific.

What has to be seen though is how does
the film sustain over the weekdays. Chances
are bright that it would since housewives
can now be expected to step in the
afternoon shows. This is one film that
women would certainly enjoy in each
other's company and hence one can expect
an all-women-gang to step in hordes for
this.
Anything in the vicinity of 20 crore in the
remainder of the week would set the film
quite well for a very healthy total that would
guarantee a Superhit status for this Kareena
Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara
Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer.

Veere Di Wedding producer Rhea Kapoor is
happy with the positive response to the
film, and hopes it changes the way female-
centric films are perceived.
"Calling the film a chick flick would put it in
a bracket. At a juncture where we are trying
to break away from labels, it's high time we
had a film that doesn't judge women and at
the same time is aspirational, Rhea said in
a statement to IANS.
"I am overwhelmed with response from the
audience and at the box office and I hope
this film breaks the glass ceiling, she
added.

Veere Di Wedding opened in India on
Friday, and raked in Rs. 10.70 crore on the
first day of its release.
Apart from India, it released in over 27
countries including Singapore, Australia, the
US, South Africa, Canada and Japan. On
foreign shores, it registered business of $1
million on the opening day.
Veere Di Wedding is co-produced by Rhea,
Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi.
The movie has drawn a lot of interest
especially as it is Kareena Kapoor Khan's
first film since she became a mother, and
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's first movie to release
since her wedding. For Swara Bhasker, it is
a different zone that she is stepping into
and Shikha Talsania is making her debut
with the project, directed by Shashanka
Ghosh.

revolving around the lives of four friends
who deal with the trials and tribulations

Studios International.

International (Film Marketing, Distribution
and Acquisition), said: "Female-centric films
are finding more takers and the demand
for forward thinking content is only
increasing. Veere Di Wedding is expected
to be a game-changer for the genre.
"On the first day itself, this film has ranked
eight amongst the top 10 in the UK in the
overall UK box office, it has ranked number
four in Australia and number three in New
Zealand for the day. The film is also the
second highest opener of the year in UK
and North America.
Chopra says "international markets have
now opened up to conventional and
unconventional Indian content and for this
particular film the release strategy along

I loved the movie it was fun watch<3
My fav is shikha n my sona<3 Sonam was perfect Avni i jus loved all her scenes with swara n bhandari lol almost all the jokes were funny n theatre was rofling too...i dint see anything vulgur or man hating in the movie-.- infact most of the men are sweet n the girls are d flawed one...swara's comic timing was soo good by half time the entire theatre was laughing whenever she opened her mouth lol kareena looked beautiful n was good in some scene in other scenes she looks soo lost that it was bit distracting may it was shot after the break:/ anyway i loved it n the frndship these for share is awesome n special me tion to bhandari n Avni how cute they were<3 i would have loved to see their date n knw his nane too 🤣
