Coco
If anyone hasn't watched it.. go watch it now! One of the best animation films I have ever seen.. maybe the best actually. A strong and unique story, beautiful cinematography, direction, and what to say about the music.. just loved it.. <3
Loved the twist in the story.. it was unexpected and it made the story so much more intriguing and soulful <3 i was in tears ..
Also, loved loved how they named the film as" Coco".. so deep <3
The ending made me teary and happy at the same time.. what an amazing film..
12/10 from me.. if that's possible ⭐️

Old vintage episodes of Roseanne are love. The reboot has been decent 😆

Bucket list
Very generic. Tires hard to touch English Vinglish with the whole "house wife trying to find herself" trope. But fails.
Loved Sumeet Raghavan and Sumedh the most.
Established Marathi actors like Vandana G and Pradeep Velankar were used like showpieces.
Madhuri was just good not great.

Chacha Vidhayak hai humare.
Pluses
Very funny.
Good casting and performances. Ronny and friends are quite likeable and endearing.
Even smaller roles by his family, Bansi, Singham and Chacha's team are done very well.
Not too slow.

Minuses
Unnecessary songs
Ronny is just an extension of Zakir's sakht launda.
The last scene's awesomeness was taken away by the very convenient ending just to make everything falls into place.

Overall quite good

Bucket List (Marathi)- Despite not being a fan of her acting much, Madhuri is always a delight to watch onscreen. She brings in a lot of freshness to the screen. However, sadly she has been having horrible script choices lately and Bucket List is one of them. This below average film can be called a poor man's version of English Vinglish. The film is so weak at the script level and so superficial that even Madhuri cannot carry the film on her own shoulders. The whole character and set up is borrowed from English Vinglish- loving younger son, irritating older daughter, ignorant yet loving husband and a cool mother in law ( grandmother in law in this case). There's nothing new that the film has to offer. The film should be studied as a case of how to brutally murder a beautiful concept and turn it into a lacklustre film with zero content. Even the missions written in a bucket list are all so odd and usual that you feel nothing for Madhura when she completes them.
Madhura Sane attempts to be a Shashi Godbole or a Sulochana Dubey but completely fails due to the superficial character sketch of the protagonist. The only relief are some nice comic elements and dialogues in between with the mother in law and the grandmother in law who was superb. Also, there's a scene where Madhuri is drunk and oh my god, such overacting- something that I've always disliked about Madhuri- her tendency to go theatrical. And to add to all of this are the spelling errors in the subtitles and the lack of them in the songs. Basic spellings! Such a bad job at subtitling. I'd expected a lot from the film but was thoroughly disappointed because of the weak script and direction. Madhuri definitely deserved a better script for her first marathi film!

Haami (Bengali)- A sweet and innocence filled film based on a school after a long time. Inspired by the recent events of sexual abuse happening in schools across India and the loss of innocence in today's time, the makers beautifully bind all these things together to show a lovely little story of two best friends who get seperated due to the involvment of their parents and their adult way of thinking. All of this, because the seven year old boy gives an innocent kiss (haami) on the cheek of the girl who is his best friend. All hell breaks lose and their parents are pitted against each other ,each trying to outdo the other because of their ego. Adding to the drama is an alleged sexual assault that happens in the school bus. The film touches everything starting from mob justice to sexual abuse to safety of kids to unverified viral whatsapp messages among other things in a beautiful and light hearted way. Major portions of the film happen in the school itself and reminds you of your own childhood, school friends and tiffin breaks. The movie compels you to stop looking at kids and their behaviour with adult lens and let them grow up naturally while keeping their innocence intact. I wish even Bollywood could come up with such concepts and films than the same old love story and revenge saga. Also, a really good job done with the english subtitles, especially the lyrics of the songs-so beautiful!

.

Drishtikone (Bengali)- Another brilliantly written and executed bengali murder mystery that tackles with extra marital affairs, loss of a loved one and a person's perspective (drishtikone) in a really mature way.

12 years a slave
Excellent movie. The helplessness of the slaves who wanted to get away, the conditioning of blacks as slaves, the heartlessness of the white masters, whether male or female and the pathetic circumstances where even a sympathetic white man is afraid to help - everything tugged at my heart and gave me a deeper, more painful understanding of how the world of slaves was like.

I'm not familiar with historical facts regarding this, but I understood watching it that africans were brought Christianity by the slavers. It was probably forced upon them by the slavers. The sad part is that, and I am only guessing this, a lot of Blacks adopted Christianity. It is sad, not because I'm against that religion, but because it is a result of their slavery. They just accepted the religion of their slavers. That didn't happen so much in India, I can think of some reasons why. But just recently it dawned on me that the Blacks have been as much affected by colonialism in a psychological way as Indian or even more, in that some of them started believing that white skin is better, or that their curls are not pretty or that more caucasian features even among Black are more desirable. Before I used to think that Blacks are so confident in their skin and when they became free, they never cared to follow the whites like in India. But it is the same everywhere. I feel sad thinking about it.

The worst thing is that even at the end of the movie, there was no happiness.

Parmanu : interesting take on the nuclear tests.
One thing i have to say is they did their research and stick to it , and didn't added much in terms of masala to make it more suspensfull etc. Which I read in trash reviews by the so called critics.
It's not better than Madras cafe though Madras cafe second half was orgasmic. That said Parmanu is a good film meant to be atleast watched once ,film could have benifeted if they CLD have used the real name of Dr apj kalam , dr chidambaram etc. But i guess they have restrictions on that ,still a well made film.

Solo : a soy war story : the problem with making any film in earlier time before the previous films is you know that how it ends , in this case you know things that gonna happen , so you know Solo going to meet chewie, going to have love hate relationship with lando , gonna get millennium falcon ,do the Kessel run ,and not get the girl.
The film took all these events and tries to join them in a unmotivated storyline. Aiden did good as young Solo ,Woody was Woody usual , Donald glover did his part tbh I am over these so called charismatic character with usual tropes , Emilia Clarke did good actually which is surprising that said she now have starred in two big franchise flop movies ,is she a bad omen lol.
I think the second part might been better because they now have to tell a original story but since it bombed who knows if there is next work .
There are some fun sequences the train loot ,parsec run.the only good movie in new star wars continue to be rogue one.
I like Ron Howard but would have love to see Miller and Lord original film , Kathleen keenndy continues to make a disaster out of star wars franchise.
