The paragraph was: "But we can take it in two ways, one the trying to hot and other them(the characters) being casual, and wearing whatever they got, instead of trying to be hot, like we boys do.
I was linking the bolded parts, and not boys with "trying to be hot". With boys it was casual dressing part. Maybe my writing caused this misunderstanding.

No, I disagreed with the "like we boys do" part. It's not like they don't try to look good. They do too in their own ways. So the classification of "trying to look good" and "not caring about appearance" holds true for both sexes.

I agreed with your post until it got to the "like we boys do" part, which was unnecessary.

Veere Di Wedding is a movie about four friends. That is that. It could be like Friends, where a bunch of friends meet up regularly at a cafe and share their lives. It could be like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara or Dil Chahta Hain and show coming of age and growth graphs. It could be like Hangover or Bridesmaids where the wedding is a backdrop to some raunchy and hilarious escapades plus some life lessons.

But its a movie, about people, their lives, and relationships. Why it should be held under a special lens is something I won't understand.

As for this still, its much ado about nothing. Its a film promo still, but it could be a photo from anyone's vacation. The quality is not perfect. The "looks" aren't perfect. Big whoop! What is there to discuss really? Maybe a film would not use a less than perfect image for promos. But maybe they are going for a less than perfect slice of everyday life look. Maybe they are trying to look hot, or cool, or aloof - still what is the big deal. I don't remember people dissecting the amount of hairy mane or the size of man boobs as much as this one pic of a few women in swimwear.

As for feminism. The film is about four friends and not feminism explicitly. Its de-facto become about feminism because it has exposed societal double standards. In a way, the makers have done this intentionally. They have intentionally gone to show women who swear, drink, smoke, have sex and talk about sex explicitly. They have shown women who are just like many characters we have seen historically in cinema. If you're all of a sudden uncomfortable because its women and not a philandering male hero - then you really need to do some soul searching.

the bolded part. you really don't visit Sallu and Ranveer bashing threads😆, who are always criticized for their man boob and unkempt look respectively. I remember someone opened a whole new thread about Sally dedicating it to his man boob😆
Also bichara SRK har thread mai buddha raisin ho jata hai, aur Ranbir female Neetu. Baki Ajay aur Varun ki looks ki pooja hoti hai😆

So I don't think those criticizing the look are doing because the four ladies present here are women(although I doubt Kareena is a human being, but that is another topic). It has more to do with the theme of the promo from the start where these four ladies especially Kareena and Swara are trying hard to look hot. It is more of a "crying wolf" paradox than people hating them for being females not looking good as per conventional norm.

Others I agree with you.

People don't like this poster. They don't like it because somewhere deep down, they KNOW this is a badly made poster and the promo is badly made.

Which group of girls screams, shouts, uses four letter word like confetti? In the name of showing their emotions and reactions to life's ups and downs. We ALL go through these things. Do we act OTT likee these crazed women as portrayed in the movie? Unless kareena and those other women who scream f f f f at the drop of a hat are supposed to be crazy or have some psychological disorders, no one behaves so loud and foul mouthed in real life..

Can you imagine the state of the world if this happened. They all look like they're in Pre menstrual rage all the time!

And that poster is so pretentious. Which person goes to beach like sonam. She looks like she is going for a bike ride in the country. And Kareena looks like she is stuck in middle of a photo shoot for hello and got transported into that lot. Look at her pose. And Swara wearing a huge pendant with her swimsuit.

This cannot be compared to ZNMD. Zoya will have a heart attack. That movie everyone liked immediately. From the time the trailer came out to the songs, the films producer actors knew they had a winner on their hands. This movie is trying too hard. It's a confused hotch potch.it may be about four friends but none of them seem real. It's like they're all 'acting'.

Who here cares about gender and thinks women should be trampled on? No one. At least not the majority. We are all educated. Most studying, working. Married. And not I'll treated by husband's.
This is not about gender at all. It is a honest reaction to the promo content, the songs, the picturisations.

Some like it. Some don't.

IDK why this movie is getting treated in a different manner than any other movie. It's just a poster, either you like or you don't. Feminism and shizz are being thrown in simply coz there are 4 women here? Not everything is for an agenda. Also, I think they all look fine including Swara who IDK why this forum hates so much. Learning to differentiate the actor from the character is rare I see.

The only thing that is bad abt this movie is that the songs are just not good... Everything else seems ok to me...

Totally agree.
Take it as a light entertainer and enjoy.
I find nothing wrong with them wearing casual clothing for the beach. Because not everyone goes to the beach and strips down to swimwear. Go on any beach (well maybe beside strict Muslim countries and naturist beaches 😆 ) and see exactly how many variations are in beachwear.

Baki sab toh theek hai, everyone is looking good but ye Sonam ne pajama kyun pehna hai??? Beach pe salwar kameez nahi pehente, bikini pehente hain...ye argument hi sunne milti hai har baar. Toh bikini kyun nahi pehni? Ya something suitable for beach, something that a fashionable person would wear? pajama? Sonam has started disappointing on every front now.

No they are not trying to be hot here. They are normal girls with different body shapes wearing swimwears. Normal casual simple.

But ashta, Sonam is not a fashionista in the movie.
She is an actress playing a role.
She doesn't have a say over what she is wearing on that scene.
And, honestly, i did see girls wearing those pants on the beach. In USA and UK, France and Italy, on the beach, you would see many wearing those pants.
Remember- it is a role..
Not everyone is the same.. also, because of the marriage and all that..maybe she didn't want to show a bikini...
