Previous update on page 60

Darkness on the Edge of Town

The night the King had left the Palace, the Queen was in her chambers praying for the safety of all who were out in the forest. Aradhana's eyes had stopped shedding tears after the King had left. His departure had lit a new hope in her that her daughter would be brought back to her.

Princess Vasu had visited her once to check how she was doing and said, "Our Tara is stronger than any of us. She will be with us soon. We just need to be strong.

"Thank you Princess for your words, Aradhana smiled.

In Prince Aditya's chamber, Princess Meethi was sitting next to the Prince resting her head on his shoulder. She too was worried for Tara, her friend who had once brought her love back to her. "I pray she is alright wherever she is, she murmured. The Prince kissed her temple and sighed hoping that his father finds her soon.

It was very late at night when Govind walked out of his room to where Tara was practising and Mrityunjay was working on his weapons. He was tired and knew they both must be. The revelation about the Vault had drained his energy. He first thought to tell Tara and Mrityunjay about this but seeing both of them very tired, he thought it would be better that they spend the night without the knowledge of the dreadful Vault. He called them to have dinner.

After dinner, the sleeping arrangements were the same as last night. Tara in Mrityunjay's room, Guruji in his room and Mrityunjay on the machan. Even though Tara was exhausted from her practice, she was unable to sleep because of the upcoming battle. She got up from the bed and checked on Guruji who seemed to be sleeping peacefully in his room. She knew where she had to go to find her own peace and walked out of the cottage. Guruji heard her walking out but didn't say anything because he knew where she was going.

She climbed the machan and saw Mrityunjay lying there looking in the direction from where she had climbed up. His eyes were fixed there since he had climbed up here, waiting for her to walk in.

"I was wondering whether you are going to come or not, he said offering his hand to her. She gave a tight smile and shrugged. He raised his brow in confusion.

"I am afraid for the battle, she said placing her hand on his.

He sat up and gently pulled her into a warm embrace. He kissed on her lips and then on her forehead. She sighed. "Don't worry about the battle. Whatever is in store for us, we will face it together," he said looking into her eyes and then kissed her temple.

She rested her head on his chest above his heart. His hands were idly making circles on her arms and then suddenly stopped. She noticed it and looked at him. He seemed to be in deep thought. He didn't realize he had stopped caressing her. He was thinking about Guruji. He had noticed that Guruji seemed tense when they were having dinner tonight. He seemed to be hiding something. She placed both her palms on either side of Mrityunjay's cheeks and raised her brows in question.

He felt the warmth of Tara's palms on his cheeks and looked at her. She was confused. He gave her a small smile and thought whatever Guruji was hiding he would ask tomorrow. "Nothing, Tara. For now, rest my love, he said and kissed her temple. He lay down taking Tara down with him. Tara placed her head on his chest again. He placed his one hand under his head like a pillow. His other hand encircled her body and rested on her hip. The rhythm of his heart beat quickly relaxed her and she slept in his embrace.

Before the first ray of sun appeared, Mrityunjay and Tara were up. He kissed her with all the love he had for her as it was his last kiss before they came down from the machan. Guruji was in his room reading all available material on the Vault. Mrityunjay went to him and looked at the scrolls scattered around the table. Guruji noticed his presence and sighed. "Where is Tara?" he asked still looking at the scroll in his hand.

"I am here," she said standing next to Mrityunjay.

"Good. As you both are here, I have something to discuss with both of you," he said keeping the scroll on the table and motioned them to come closer to him.

When both were standing on either side of him, he pointed at the map where the mist had led them yesterday. Mrityunjay and Tara looked at the map trying to figure out what Guruji was going to say. He took a deep breath and rubbed his hand on his face.

"This is the location of The Vault of the Dark One," he said keeping his finger on the map. Mrityunjay and Tara didn't say anything seeing him so tired and looked at the location his finger was pointing to on the map. He continued, "It's the Vault which can let the dark powers from another realm into our world."

There was silence in the room for a moment. There was a pregnant pause which no one dared to break by voicing the truth that all of them knew. But things would not change if we close our eyes. It's better to face them than to ignore them.

Tara sighed. "Kalavati will summon them tomorrow," she whispered looking at Guruji. He nodded.

Mrityunjay's eyes squinted in anger and his hands balled into tight fists. Guruji looked tenderly at Tara and Tara knew what he was trying to say. "I will look what new magic I can learn in the given time, she smiled and went to Mrityunjay. She put her hand on his forearm and squeezed it a little.

He loosened his fist under her touch and took a deep breath closing his eyes. "You knew this yesterday before dinner? he asked accusingly. Guruji nodded. He opened his eyes and walked out of the room.

Guruji sighed. He knew Mrityunjay would be angry but he just didn't want them to worry till it was necessary. Tara followed him but before she left the room she heard Guruji saying, "I will also look for spells.

In the paddock, Mrityunjay was fencing to channel his anger and get it out of him. Tara looked at him and sighed. She understood Guruji's reason for avoiding the topic till now. But she also understood Mrityunjay's anger. Things involved in finishing Kalavati were turning more dangerous. So she let him channel his anger and continued to read the book.

When she was reading, she found a spell which was for teleportation. She carefully read how it worked. She swirled her hands up from her waist to near both sides of her face. At first the movement was clumsy but after a few repeated attempts, she managed to do it correctly. After perfecting the hand move she read the spell written for teleportation. She also thought to teleport herself to the lake. A purple smoke rounded at her feet when she started swirling her hands from her waist and as she started moving it up towards the sides of her face, the smoke started moving towards her upper body. When her hands were near her face, the smoke reached the top of her head and soon she found herself on the bank of the lake.

"It worked!!! It worked!!! she squealed with happiness.

Seeing the lake, she suddenly felt thirsty. She knelt on the bank of Lake Nostos and scooped up water in her palms to drink. She was a little tired with the events of the past few days. The lake water renewed her. She felt like a new person. She followed the previous movements of her hands to teleport herself back to the cottage. The purple smoke immediately encircled her and brought her back to the cottage.

Finding herself back in the cottage, she ran into Guruji's room and informed him about this. He was happy to know her progress.

"Practise it well. We can use this tomorrow to teleport to the location, he said smiling at her. He gave her the book he was reading with some markings at places on it and said, "There are some potions in it which I think will be helpful. She nodded and took the book from him.

He is now fencing to channel his anger and Tara understood both him and Guruji and so let him continue!!!!

Tara is now reading books to fight better against Kalavati!!!!👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼

She found a spell for teleportation and was able to do it after a few tries!!!!👏 👏 👏 👏

She informed Guruji who was happy to know her progress and now they can teleport to the location!!!!!😊 😊 😊 😊
