Black Panther
Another marvel shlock movie , which is borderline decent.
I won't say it's bad like some other marvel movies but there is nothing extraordinary about it too.
Marvel have perfect the formula of making 7/10 movies , movies that are decent and passable for one time watch with nothing memorable in them.
Background score is literal trash , the movie differs from other major marvel is that the villain actually gain upprrhand and triumph over leader but this whole scenario is played so fast paced in last thirty minutes that it becomes so superficial to even bothered about , on performance level , boseman did shine and was really good but I didn't but Michael Jordan's majority of performance , its too campy and over the top for a movie like this, though he gives good performance when it comes to subtle and emotional scenes.
Supporting cast was decent to good.
Action was better in civil war , very much unexciting level of action choreography.
Even though , I was bored out of mind watching this drag for two hours.

Anaganaga Oka Roju (1997)

An RGV road movie. It is a comedy too.

I enjoy dialogues in old RGV movies that are are adorned with a bit of english, a splash of Telangana telugu or Hyderabadi language with that tinge of Urdu. 😃

I was not bored 90% of the time. Wasn't AS good as some other 90s RGV movies, but was good. Old RGV always have a good opening scene, and also good dialogues, great casting.

The casting was big, was happy to see many faces even if for a few minutes -

Raghuvaran's being cast as a cop in this movie took me by surprise because he is a permanent villain in telugu movies, but then, that doubt was cleared. :p
KOTA SRINIVAS RAO ❤️ ...i will watch any movie for him :) ..but his character wasn't special in this movie like in Siva or Gaayam where his acting blew me away.
Uttej - seems he is a permanent cast for RGV movies :) - I love how RGV gives him special screen time in all of his movies - he sings/speaks in telangana telugu, and has good dialogues that makes one smile.
Kallu - tiiiny role, but happy.
Rami Reddy - always plays a goon, I love him :p
And receptionist guy.

I loved some comedy scenes - like 'doubt' scene at hotel reception, gun/pen scenes... enjoyable movie 😃

I loved Chakri-Madhu too, they're like friends, I liked their characters.. enjoyed all their dialogues/acting. Urmila looked so pretty.

The background score during some fight scene in this movie was lifted from Jurassic Park :p

Love watching this song from this movie 😃

Face of Another (1966)
👏

Movie by Hiroshi Teshigahara, based on a book written by Kobo Abe, about a man with disfigured face who has to keep it bandaged - thus becoming and feeling 'faceless', and isolated from the society, including his wife. Tired of the phony sympathy, the palpable distance or fear in others' interaction with him, he and his psychiatrist carry out an experiment inventing a mask which becomes his new face. After a while of living double-life, he starts "becoming the mask", rather than using it for the original intention of returning to the society. He ends up losing a sense of self, which is far worse than a loss of an identity felt by him before he took up the mask. So, there is bound to be a conflict.

This movie can be interpreted in a few ways, it can be interpreted at face value for what it is of a patient who goes on to experiment with a mask or also of a common man, who has lost a sense of identity. In society, every person is a 'face', the more you lose an identity as per social norms, the greater the distance from society. And, it can cause some resentment inside, because society expects you to have a societal identity even if it is a mask - no one cares/recognizes. But... there must be something that recognizes, and that is love :p ..but love also cannot help, when you try too hard and lose a sense of self.. and this is what happens in the movie. Although he has lost an identity, he still desires a human connection like a normal man.. and that drives him to wear a 'mask', put on a face/s.. and when one is not careful, lose their self, lose love.

There are many scenes I have loved in this movie.
Since I have written about the movie, I'll mention a few scenes that stood out as well -

1. The scene where a half-wit girl recognizes the man, although he promises her something in the mask, she still recognizes him in bandaged face.
2. The discussion about true self not getting drunk, but the mask. I've always found people getting 'drunk' and behaving 'drunk' a mystery.. I think I got my answer today. I loved the direction here when the psychiatrist starts running away with his imagination about a society full of faceless people, how there'd by no trust - no suspicion, no loneliness - no friendliness and so on... the light around psychiatrist and the man is dimmed, and when he realises it isn't possible in reality, the lights are on.
3. Another scene between psychiatrist and the man at a cafe.
4. The direction where the man with his mask asks his wife out, and they both walk and the camera focuses on a mirror showing them walk (not khaaas, but liked it)

I loved sooo many dialogues, so beautifully written.. makes you think and connect with your own personal experience of this life. All those dialogues of the faceless man with his insecurities, his sensitivity, his moments of spite, some self-realisation, some confusion or lying.. and doctor constant questioning the truth, his own insight of life, society, human nature and so on.. i enjoyed.

I loved the opening scene in the movie.. reminded me of opening scene in Woman in the Dunes about how we are part of the society. I think this scene explains the entire movie?

And then, there's a scene in X-ray, of the faceless man explaining his accident. This movie is kind of life Persona, where the theme of the movie is also of the soul and the persona... but this movie directly deals with it, in one person and lays it out for audience.

Background score in this movie was kept to the very minimum.. Loved the actors, faceless man was handsome, so is the doctor. And there was repetition of scenes! :D ..in different contexts, but I liked that technique..

There's a small parallel story about a girl who like the faceless man suffers little disfigurement to her face.. She works at a psychiatric ward for army veterans, it was sad..

In this movie as well, there's that subtle thing going on which makes one feel uneasy at times.. I can't point at what it is, but you get drawn into an atmosphere lol.

I have to say, faceless man's house looked futuristic for 1966 :o ...the sets in this entire movie looked advance for one made in 1966.

Baaaghi 2

A kid behind me in the theater wouldn't sit in his seat and told his mom "This movie is horrible!

I sat there stunned. Was he right? Was this movie horrible? Was I blinded by Nostalgia? I collapsed in my seat. The room felt hot and I began to convulse. Everything I ever knew was a lie. Then, I had a realization.

f**k that kid. This was the best goddamn movie I've seen in years. It was absolutely f**king delightful and that little uncultured f**k needs to sit the hell down. I stood up in my seat and turned around.

I yelled "Oh this movie is horrible? I'd love to know why. The narrative may have seemed simple at first, but it quickly turned into an intricate plot and took some risks I never thought a modern movie would. The color grading was to die for. The cinematography has never been so careful in a movie before. A lot of work went into every scene- no every shot- and I guess it was all a waste because you think it's horrible. Sit the hell down and let me enjoy my goddamn train movie.

The kid had tears welling in his eyes. His mother said nothing because she knew I was right and was trying to work up the courage to say the same thing to him. The theater erupted into cheers and I said "Now, now, let's enjoy the cinema.

The boy stayed in his seat the rest of the movie.

Really good film, 10/10.

I saw Baaghi 2 I can see why its connecting so well. It was pure masala entertainment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️That scene where he is hanging from the tree. Shooting the gun was epic. The film had a decent story. I did like the twists and turns. The songs were great as well. Even ek to teen. Tiger could be a really star. He has all the tools and this film showcased it. Disha herself is a great performer too. She is really pretty. 😳😳 Deepak, Manoj were ok. But Randeep was a scene stealer. 👏👏
This film if nothing else will provide a good time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A 7.5 out 10 😊😊

Superstore S1
Why did it take me so long to start watching this show? Every episode I watch, I get flashbacks of my previous life as a Walmart employee. If you have ever worked retail, you will relate.

This show manages to capture the drudgery and hopelessness of working at a discount retail store, but turns it into some sharp television humor. All the characters are such memorable gems.

The best part is the little 5 second vignettes of random customers.

Ready Player One

This movie is an homage to video game culture and nostalgia. Steven Spielberg has filled it with some cool special effects. It is fast paced and exciting. With female gamers and diverse cast members it cuts through the toxic masculinity of the post gamergate era. Plus Lena Waithe.

Unfortunately, the film is not true to the book at all. I am only halfway through the book and was sorely disappointed at how different it was. They completely changed major plot lines and references. They say you should view the movie as a standalone film, but as an avid reader thats hard to to.
