Raid box office collection day 9: Ajay Devgn Ileana D'Cruz's film sees a jump, nears the Rs 75 crore mark

After a fantastic first week, Ajay Devgn and Ileana D'Cruzs Raid has continued to rake in the moolah at the domestic box office. In fact, on day 9, the movie saw a jump in collections once again, as it raked in Rs 5.71 crore at the ticket window. And with that Raid has gotten ever so close to the Rs 75 crore mark. The movie now has Rs 72.31 crore in its kitty and it will surely eclipse the prestigious mark by tonight (March 25) itself. As trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter, "#Raid is back in form on second Sat. Expected to cross Rs 75 cr mark tonight [end of Weekend 2]. [Week 2] Fri Rs 3.55 crore, Sat Rs 5.71 crore. Total: Rs 72.31 crore. India biz.

Raid had a decent buzz and considerable screen space, but with a niche subject, the trade was unsure about which direction the film would go. However, with a fantastic storyline, interesting screenplay and some stellar performances, Raid generated a tremendous word of mouth publicity which helped it lure the audience into the theatres and thereby earn a large amount of money. Looking at the current trends, Raid should see a further upward trend today (second Sunday) and near the Rs 80 crore mark by the end of the second weekend.
