EN, on a different note I happened to watch this up and coming Tamil stand-up comedian Alex's show this weekend. I have never heard of him until my hubs took me to the show. It was non-stop laugh riot for almost 2 hours. He was pretty good. He is coming to Texas next weekend.

Damaged Deals

He bent to pick her up, she wasn't expecting it, her arms losing their clutch of her legs, stumbled falling on him, he reclined on the fat colorful dhurrie the coot stood on. She pulled away frantically

A series of clanging and ringing from her bangles ensued as she fought to gain control of her body

He was flat on his back, briefly she was laying over him, on her belly

She fell back on to his side also on her belly, her head on his arm

He reached up with his right arm and yanked the two pillows from under Chandu's head, as the kid had crept on to hers

"Avantika... lets make a deal he whispered

He stuffed the pillow under his head lifting her head and placing it on them

"Nahi she tried to sit up stiffly

"Lets make a deal. You don't have to talk to me. Lets get some sleep he offered

She lay still for a second unable to breathe

His arm went around her waist

"Don't touch me she whispered hoarsely

"I can do that... provided u offer something in exchange he whispered

She shook her head teary eyed, he reached out and flicked a tear.

He sighed and slumped back on the pillow, still facing her

They stretched, she tried not to rub against him

She heard his steady breathing in a while, she gently tilted her form and inhaled his scent

The clean citrusy flavor, and a sob escaped her throat

Got up and went and laid down by Chandu again

She lay staring at him

The moonlight hitting his shoulder and breaking off

He woke in the morning and found her on her bed

She woke on time, prepped Chandu for school. Dressed appropriately did not make eye contact with Lakshmi. Was extra polite. Refused breakfast until after pooja

Alka tried to cheer her up

Suman offered her a second cup of chai. The whole house knew Teeku realized

She went down with the kid, and found Harit waiting to drive them to school

"Can I sit in your lap? Chandu begged

"Nope. You sit in your seat Harit said firmly

Chandu leaked his first ounce of tears

"bauji ke driver bhi hain

"Jaante hain hum Harit said patiently

They dropped the kid off witnessing the second ounce of tears

"Nashta kyon nahi kiya aapne?

"Ma pooja ke baad khaane ko kehti hain she mumbled still on her phone

"Raat ko bed par kyon chali gayin?

"Hamey dhurrie mein soney ki aadat nahi hai she said

And had to make eye contact at that point

"So u just left me there? he winked unable to contain his laughter

"Aapka idea tha she said looking out the window

"Agar hum kahenge tab aap text bhejengi, kahenge tab bhi saath nahi soyengi? he asked blandly

"Aapne hamey kabhi text nahi bheja she said loudly looking at him accusingly

They looked at each other for the longest time

"Did u want to be wooed? he asked softly

She didn't respond

Just choked for air, the way he asked that q too intense

He drove into the gate, and stopped by the house

As she went to get down

"Avantika

She paused with the open door

"thanks for riding in the front he said mischievously

Teeku, this could have played out differently you know and you wouldn't hv to sob laying there staring at him
I don't know why, everything that upsets us especially from the spouse, first two years we take it too personally ... it's always as if the other person is the one at fault and therefore the other person is the one who needs to be working on those faults... it takes years to look at those faults not too personally and some years more for those very same flaws to be looked upon even endearingly 😳 that's a good phase to get to 😊
