Of course there is. I don't know how to drape a sari but I won't be shamed for not knowing it.The fact that ppl applauded Sabya for saying that makes me worried that were really regressing .He is sounding like vivek agnihotri on twitter who made a similar statement saying why actresses don't wear sari instead of evening gowns for award nights and events.Ultimately it's choice.

Sabya is obviously peddling his pseudo-nationalistic narrative to make a headline but my point wasn't about his statement at all.@Bold: Do you live in India? If yes, then I am surprised. Isn't it like a basic knowledge one must possess? Not wanting to wear it is just an after-thought and nobody should be forced to do something that goes against their personhood. At home I've been trained( same is the case with most South Asian and Asian immigrant households) since childhood to converse in my mother tongue(so as to not forget one's roots) whereas the cousins in India speak English at home. I've always thought that's kinda weird.

he finds sari most sexy dress...as the navel often gets revealed..
n perverts do stare..
so i do not find it alarming or shameful if women prefers to ditch the
sari unless they are in known environment of familiarity like say some
weddings or puja etc.
@bold : This part depends more on the wearer, no ? You can make it as sexy or as demure as you want to... You can also make a saree cover the whole body like a gown.
my college had this compulsory traditional day. Our dean used to tell us to properly pin up the pallu if we were to dance wearing a saree.😆😆
😆
yea, also the way one takes the pallu from the plaits to the shoulder.
