^ It maynot be new, doesnt mean we shouldn't speak about it... About SLB speaking up... its when he faced the brunt he spoke... this is the behavior most of us have, we speak mostly when we face it...

Add on - And Bhansali is wrong when he says this doesn't happen anywhere else in the world. LOL! He clearly doesnt watch much news.
At the same time - that is not a reason for us to be proud of. What happened during Padmavat protests was terrible and shouldn't be happening in a democracy. However, it is a fact that we as a people are one of the better ones. JNU was the best example.

Also during Yakub Memon's funeral in Mumbai there were lakhs of Muslims who had turned to pray for his souls. This was the same Mumbai that Yakub had mercilessly butchered. He and his friends had shown no mercy yet when lakhs belonging to his religion turned up for him, no one batted an eyelid. No one questioned them. In fact the Indians he hated so much moved mountains to delay his hanging.
This speaks a lot of this country's tolerance. It's not a perfect country in matters of free speech but to term it as the worst, shows your ignorance.

At last, SLB got a chance to release his pent up frustration. Good. Better than cigarette. I understand, why he chose to be quiet till now. I don't even blame him for stopping the rumours of Kilji-Padmavati scene in the beginning. As a maker, he was not answerable to these guys at any time. But only objection I have is, he should have lodged a complaint when he got attacked.

No country can avoid sick people like KarniSena members (whichever community). There will always be. But how the state reacts to them matters. I always said, KarniSena is not the problem. But Governments banning the movie because of KarniSena was. That reflects on the strength of democratically elected government. It is not a good image.

There is no rise or fall of intolerance. It was always there..., a little bit..., here and there. It will always be. After all, our country is so diverse. There is always difference of opinions. A few among a big pool may even express their opinion violently. What matters is, how the state deals with it. This time, states dealt it horribly. True, no other party head (Rahul Gandhi) spoke. But the expectation is more from the ruler. (He is the one who is chosen by the people, not the other). He is the one who is answerable . Modi let the people down, by choosing to be quiet during school bus incidence. If Vajpayee was fit, he would have said what he said when he was PM. "Modiji_ne Raj Dharm Ka Paalan Nahi Kiya".

Those who say, "If Khans has said it, they would have been asked to go to Pakistan" forget, their movies were not banned by the government. (It is strange that, Khan's movies never get banned in India, but gets banned in Pakistan. Bhansali's movie which showed Khilji as a barbarian gets banned in India, but not Pakistan).
Everyone gets trolled. Recently a senior citizen in my state (who is a freedom fighter) criticised Modi. I may not agree with the words he chose. But the reaction he got for that was quite appalling. Those who went against him said "He is looking for a plot/house from the Congress government". (He is around hundred years old. Never entered politics, though many of his friends became ministers). He suddenly became a Congress agent (though he had opposed Congress during Lokpall Bill). To top it, these people even wondered, whether he really participated in freedom movement (as he chose to share the stage with Prakash RaJ and JNU).
Does even a freedom fighter becomes anti national if he criticises Modi? I am sure, if Vajpayee could express himself well, he might have opposed some actions at least. In that case, I wonder how people would have trolled him. "Budda? Mentally retorted"? (Like how they demean Advani).

Ten years ago, I was sick of pseudo secularism of a party. Today, I am getting tired of pseudo patriotism of another party. People have to realise the difference between criticising a party/government and criticising our country. If BJP has played this game for vote banks, I really wish for it to taste defeat in coming election. I hate vote bank politics. Defeat once in a while is good for the party, as it stops one from getting arrogant.
