superb updates.. liked the way Khushi stood for Arnav before lisa.. she can make Arnav's life hell but she won't allow anybody to do that with him.. wow.. so payal is here.. hope she is happy and is not shocked to know the reality of so called marriage of Khushi with Arnav.. loved reading the updates.. 😊

Interesting story, loving this role reversed and arnav is not the macho man for a change

You dont know how much i love this reversed...

"So, tell me Payal, how come she is your sister?"

"What do you mean, Arnav?"

"You, so sorted and level headed. You, who dreamed of her sister's big fat Indian marriage- the lights, the food, a third of which inevitably ends up in the dustbin, the pomp and the show, accepted the fact that she didn't even get invited for the marriage. And then there is Khushi Gupta who would burn down everything in her vicinity if her coffee is not strong enough."

"Arnav, you do realize that I am sitting here, right in front of you?" Khushi raised an eyebrow at him.

"Oh please, don't start with eyebrow-raising-what-the-ing again. I am not some client of yours that I will run away with my tail between my legs."

"Yes Kuku. He is your husband now. What do you have to say about that?"

"Oh I know he is my husband. He is taking enough advantage of the fact already."

"Koookooo, is this the way to talk about your husband?" Arnav mock admonished her and Khushi rolled her eyes, twice.

"Kuku, Arnav! Look I am not here to demand explanation for this hasty marriage but the way you two are still around each other, it seems like not much have changed." Payal said with a tinge of nostalgia and a snort.

"Payal.. we have always been like this. You know..."

"Oh yes I know, Kuku. How can I forget? You locked him up in a room for hours when you met him for the first time!!"

"That was a mix up. He lost his appointment letter." Khushi said defensively.

"Oh okay, that was a mix up but how about the time you made me Lisa's minion for a whole month? Made me clean her shoes! And what about the time I almost got killed because you were prosecuting a drug lord and conveniently put me on the line to take a bullet? I can go on if you are in a mood for explanation today, my ice-queen."

"That is our job, Arnav. And it comes with occupational hazards. And don't you think that just because I don't say anything, I don't know about you. If we start with explanations then..."

"KHUSHI ARNAV!! Why did you guys even get married?" Payal couldn't take it anymore. These two had always been loggerheads with each other, even when it was near impossible to rile up Khushi to this extent. Arnav's ice queen that she was. But this animosity from both sides, something was horribly wrong.

"Payal, don't worry. Barf-ki-rani pighal rahi hai. And this is the side affect. Come I will take you to your apartment. You must be tired. I wish you could stay here with us but my ice queen seems to be tight fisted when it comes to spending money on a decent apartment." Arnav said and wondered why Payal was smiling.

"I won't have to go far Arnav. This whole building is Kuku's."

Arnav's surprise melted away at a you-should-have-known look from Khushi.

"Oh! That's why I never saw any other tenants here. I just thought the rest of the building must have been crappy to live in or something." Arnav talked to himself rather than Payal.

"So Arnav, now how about helping me with my luggage till upstairs? " Payal teased an already flustered Arnav.

"Yeah.. yeah. Right! come."

As Arnav dragged Payal's luggage to the lift he wondered how many things there are that he didn't know about his wife. He had never been to her apartment before. She always preferred a room in a hotel when they made love. Well! It had always been sex for her but he liked to use the euphemism. She was close enough for him to feel at home even in a hotel room and he was miles away for her to be a stranger.

"Arnav?"

"Huh? Oh we are here. You go ahead I will bring your luggage."

As he entered the apartment, it smelled of lemon. The linens were freshly washed and a citrus fragrance wafted through the entire apartment. It reminded him of Khushi. Her cloths, her hair and the nape of her neck always had the scent of lemons and sweet oranges.

"Arnav? What are you thinking? About Kuku?"

"Huh? N.. no.. I just."

"It's okay Arnav. I understand. Kuku can be difficult to put it mildly. She can be distant and sometimes even I feel like I can't reach her. But she has let you in more than she has me or anyone. You know why the one bedroom apartment when her apartment for guests has three bedrooms? Because she never agreed to share her space with anyone...except you. I know you would say you are married but I know Kuku. She had calculated everything before she got married to you, including the fact that she will have to share her home with you."

Arnav suddenly wanted to go back to Khushi and watch her roll her eyes at him, even while knowing she is the one who played with his health, put him in gunpoint because it was required for the game she was playing, almost got him killed, blackmailed him to sham of a marriage and made him thank his stars in a f**king hotel room.

Rewind 11 months !

"I was so wrong, Sim. How could I even think that Khushi Gupta would do anything good without an ulterior motive?"

"Slow down, Faintzada. Now, what did Khushi do to you this time?" Sim, the paralegal working under Jha, asked Faintzada- The name he had acquired after the news of his spat with the boss and his claustrophobia made rounds in the office. It had become the new joke. He had become the joke, to be precise. But he had no other option but to swallow the indignation he felt at being called by that name. He had a career to build and cross the mountain of building rappo with colleagues. Though no one was keen on inviting him to their 'office get togethers'. Not after he messed with the Devil herself and downgraded to a P.A. from an associate.

"Never mind. It is nothing." He realized he is digging his own grave, sharing things with Sim. The gossip monger. He always wondered how she managed to make such an excellent professional with that trait of hers.

"Oh come on Faintzada! Spill. It's Lisa. Isn't it?"

"Sim, I have calls lined up. Khushi will bury me alive if any of them..."

Sim gasped dramatically before he could finish.

"Didn't you hear Faintzada? It's ma'am for you."

Arnav didn't bother to reply. He shook his head muttering profanities and walked away. He could hear Sim's loud snort dissolving into distant incoherence. But Sim was right. Everyone called Khushi by her name except behind her back, in which case they called her the devil. It is only to him she made clear that she was his superior. His ma'am.
