Part 6
Ishita was gone leaving a shocked , confused ,happy sad ,excited and filled with all emotions Raman ,he was still in dilemma that how he should react with this . He was shocked to know that ishita was always cheerful though her daughter was was sick ,he was confused that why she came to him for help rather than going to her husband though he has throw her out very rudely, happy because she trusted him and come to him for help ,excited as he will be with her again .
He ruffled his hairs and sat on his chair ,his whole mind was filled with Ishita's thoughts only ,that's when his phone rang ,he picked the call as it was mihirs call .
R- hello .
M- hey Raman how are you .
R- I m good ,wanna tell you something .
M- bol ns ,I have all ears .
R- today I met ishita .
M- where bhai.
R- she came to office .
M- for asking job .
R- nope ,actually she came to me for money .
M- money for what .
Raman narrated everything to him and mihir spoke " oh to that's why she told that day that she is in acute need of job".
R- which day mihir ,when did you met her .
Mihir told him about the interview and everything .Raman got happy listening, that she left her job as she is loyal to him ,he got overwhelmed knowing that she thought so much about him though she was going through such crises . Mihir felt so sorry for not helping her , Raman even scolded him a bit for not telling him about ishita .Mihir told that he should surely help ishita as she is going through a tough time .Raman nodded ,they talked some more and then hung the call .
The Raman wrapped up his work , informed the receptionist to cancel all his further meetings and then made his way to Escorts hospital .He entered the hospital and asked the receptionist the way towards children's ward .She told the direction,Raman went there, saw children wards no 2 ,he went inside and scanned the ward in search of bed no 24 , he at first saw Mrs iyer ,she was sitting in the stool beside the bed ,then he saw a woman ,may be ishita as he can't see her face because she was sitting on bed turning to wall ,she was almost curling into herself ,Raman saw this and found it a bit weird ,he walked to the bed ,amma saw him and asked about him as that day she couldn't see him well because she was busy in ruhi .
He spoke " Raman bhalla ."
Listening to his name ,she turned and saw him ,she greeted him ,amma gave him the stood to sit and she sat on bed .Ishita trued to turn to him but little ruhi started crying ,that's when he realized that she was feeding ruhi ,he got up and spoke excusing himself feeling bit awkward " I had to do an important call ,will be back after it ".
Saying so he turn to go out when he saw appa coming with a packet full of medicines and injections .He too greeted Raman and went out with him , passing the packet to amma .In the swift moment Raman scanned the whole ward ,there were many men's in the ward and some of them were even looking at ishita and other ladies who were feeding their baby's ,making them awkward to feed their baby in such crowded place . He didn't liked it a bit and asked to appa that why they are in ward ,not in cabin . Appa told that they cannot afford the charge of cabin as its high for them to afford.Raman felt bad listening to him ,he told appa to change the room at first ,appa was about to deny when Raman assured " you don't worry about the charges ".
Appa- you are not understand sir ,its not for a day or two ,it will take at least 10 to 15 days .
R- that doesn't matter ,you at first get them shifted to cabin .
Appa nodded and both men went to the sisters room to change ruhi's bed .Soon ishru were shifted to the cabin , ishita was confused as well as worried for money when appa told her that Raman got them changed from ward to cabin . Ruhi was now sleeping in Ishita's lap while Ishita was looking too beautiful in her messed up state also ,she was wearing a simple cotton suit ,her hairs were messed up while she was still not wearing any signs of marriage .
Soon appa amma left for home as appa has to return back to hospital with Ishita's dinner . Now ishra were alone in the cabin ,Raman was going to sit in the stool when ishita signalled him to sit on bed as he will be uncomfortable in the stood .He did same ,they were about to talk when ruhi stirred in her sleep , she was about to cry when ishita rocked her and patted again to sleep . He saw ruhi for the very first time and was lost in her innocent look ,she was very small in comparison to other kids of her age ,all pink ,having very tiny hands and legs , she was as soft as cotton ,a beautiful smile crept on his lips on the sight of the tiny creature .
He caressed her soft ,curly hairs lovingly ,he was not able to withdraw his eyes from her ,he was admiring ruhi when ishita asked " she is cute na ".
Raman was so busy in ruhi that he forget that he has to talk to ishita ,he lifted his face and spoke " she is very cute ,just like a doll ."
That's when ruhi got up ,and yawned stretching her tiny hands and legs , opening her small doe shaped eyes ,she was replica of ishita , more like small version of ishita .He saw ishita and asked if he can take ruhi ,Ishita smiled listening to him and his excitement of taking her in his arms .Ishita told him to wash his hands as ruhi can be affected out of dust . He did same, he went to washroom ,washed his hands and face nicely with soap and came out ,ishita gave him her dupptta to wipe his wet hands as she don't have any towel at this time ,then she told him to sit on the bed ,crossing his both legs . Raman removed his shoes and sat crossing his legs and saw ishita with hopeful eyes waiting to get ruhi in his arms .Ishita took ruhi from her lap and put her in Raman's lap ,he hold ruhi protectively and spoke giggling " ishita she is so light ,seems I m holding some teddy not a baby , how much is she ".
I(with teary eyes )- she is just 3.25 kilograms .she couldn't gain weight due to her disease. Babies of her age can do many things but my baby cannot as she is always sick .
R- will she respond me .
I- yeah ,talk to her .
Raman called ruhi with her name ,ruhi responded immediately ,she saw him ,he made faces ,she giggled fully showing her toothless gums ,Raman saw ishita and asked " how cute is she ,haina ".
I- humm ,but unlucky too.
Raman was shocked listeming to this ,he didn't liked this and spoke " why are you telling like this about your own daughter ".
I- (sadly )- what else I can say,her father left us before her birth and now she is suffering from this after her birth .
Raman lifted her face and saw ishita ,he kept ruhi on his shoulder and asked patting ruhi softly " why did he left you."
I- because he didn't want a girl child .
R- (surprised )- you mean you are trying to say that you people are away ,just because you gave birth to ruhi .
I- no ,I didn't gave birth to ruhi ,but because I was carrying a girl child and didn't wanted to abort her .
R- are you serious , you wanna say that just because you were carrying Ruhi ,your husband left you ,don't say that you people were happy married couple before this .
I- I exactly want to say same thing , my husband and all the family members my in-laws, my sister in-law ,all loved me ,I was happy and contended in my marriage life . All were too happy when they come to know that I m pregnant , my husband was on the top of world listening to this news ,he fulfilled all my wishes and pampered me a lot but after three months they did a sex identification test ,and their behavior chsbfed all of a sudden after knowing that its a girl child ,they even told me to abort her ,but I denied .I tried to make them understand that now a days there is no difference between a girl and boy ,they reacted positively ,I thought that now they are happy for my baby . Everything got back to normal ,I thought that they had accepted my baby girl ,but after some days ,coincidentally I heard their talk ,they were planning my accident to kill my child ,that's when I confronted them and left their house .I went to my parents ,at first they tried to make me understand to agree with my in-laws but I denied ,saying I cannot kill my child which is growing in me .
Raman was surprised listening to this , as he was not married he never knew that this type of problem can also occur in a relationship .He asked " then what happened ."
I- I waited for him but he never came to meet me .After some days appa talked to my FIL ,he told that non is listening to him and are adamant that they will accept me only if I will abort my child. After receiving so much negativity I once thought to abort my child as I wanted to be with my husband ,even I went to the clinic also but I cannot muster strength to kill my baby and that day I decided that I will give birth to her and safeguard her also ,from that day I m mother as well as father of my baby ,but seems god is also testing me ,giving so much pain to my baby .
She spoke with moist eyes ,Raman raised his hands to wipe her tears ,then withdrew it but she started crying bitterly ,he couldn't stop himself and asked wiping her tears " do you still want to go back to him ".
I- only if he accepts ruhi .
R- had you ever talked to him after you left his house .
I- no he didn't ever called back ,not even once for knowing my wellbeing .
R- then also you wanna go back to him .
I- then what else I can do ,he is my husband ,father of my daughter , I belong to him ,where else I can go .
R- do you think he will the you back in his life and you people can lead a normal life like earlier .
I- why not ,husband wife mein aise fight chalti rahti hai ,he is angry but I m sure he will accept us .
Raman got hurt listening to this ,when Ishita came to him ,he formed a little hope that may be there is a chance that they can be together but his heart broke again listening to this ,he couldn't stop himself ,he clutched Ishita's hairs angrily and hissed " then why the hell you came to me for help not him ".
She can see hurt clearly in his eyes ,she felt bad for hurting him again ,before she can spoke anything he shouted again ," tell me damn it ,I was trying to forget you ,then why the hell you come to me ".
I(with teary eyes )- because for him I had doubt and I had full trust on you that you will surely help me .
R- yeah why not ,you had full trust on me because you very well know that his much I love you haina ,you bloody used me .
I- nope I begged you because I can do anything for my daughter ,if I can leave my husband for her ,I can beg to you also .you can take out your frustration on me ,as i m actually at fault but I request you please help me .
Raman felt bad on her condition ,she was crying bitterly ,feeling too helpless ,he too was in same condition ,that's when ruhi started crying breaking their heated conversation .Ishita opened her hands and spoke " give her to me ,she must be hungry ".
Raman didn't spoke further ,he gave ruhi to ishita ,got down,wore his shoes and was going out ,ishita was noticing his retreating figure with teary eyes ,thinking may be he will not help him further when he turned and spoke " don't worry ,I m there to help you ,not for you but for ruhi ,wipe those tears ,I will not let anything happen to ruhi ".
Saying so he left ,leaving a shameful and guilty ishita.
