And it's actually not some thing convoluted , it's so extremely common in real life as well. , there was a show in Sony by the name Some thing color like this 😉 😛 which dealt with the exact same topic , the MIL was happy with the guy settling down with pretty much any girl EXCEPT the one he fell for.
There also just like Pinky and Annika before marriage , the SIL-MIL had a great cordial relationship before well.. before she learnt that her darling son has heart eyes for the girl.
Like Tej has mentioned the day Shivaay brought Anika back home after Shivaay NDE , Pinky has nothing but Shivaay as her punji or investment . She's no self worth. She "loses" Shivaay. She's kangal ! 😆
And she's deluding herself and trying to delude others that she's doing all these because Anika is an ill omen for the family and Shivaay. 😉
