I agree with this completely. I believe that what makes a villain formidable is not how villainous they are, but how relatable we find him/her. A true villain is someone whose purpose we somewhat empathize with. This creates a delicious tension within the viewer as we are forced to grapple with the gray-er areas of human consciousness. And this creates true tension within our heroine as well. Chandni is now forced to choose between a man who hates her and a mother who loves her but simply loves herself more. It would have been so interesting to watch! Perhaps I wouldn't have left watching the show then.Yet another reason disappointed me for this 180 within Indrani is because I'm so bored of the quintessential villainous step mothers. This is clearly lazy writing. When I watched that episode I didn't see a plot twist. I saw someone who got intimidated by the challenges ahead and decides to circumvent it.My two cents to yours!

As far as Advay is concerned, his execution troubles me for it is inconsistent writing and the character is really not well thought out.
Advay, a mathematician, attaches his own turbulent emotions to a flimsy bit of evidence and decides to "punish" Chandni based on this memory. This, to me, is simply ludicrous. How does a man who has set out to investigate his own parent's death, a mathematician to boot (ie: a man who understands the value of logical thinking and solid, identifiable proof) not realize the value of thinking through things rationally and logically. This to me, is the chief irritant and one of the main reasons I lost patience with the show. I don't understand how an 8 year old's words are taken at face value by an ADULT and merit, in his mind, no further investigation. Not only this, they present Advay as this amazing all-rounder he man who can do no wrong. But the reality is different. In reality, he's just a man who has little control over his emotions and runs around pretending he does and this just irritates me all the more. (do you see my disdain for him?)My chief beef with the first season of IPKKND 1 was how Arnav treated Khushi in the initial six months track and I am so alarmed to see them slowly inching forward to the same trend. I am not above storming 4Lions offices if it comes to that again. This kind of boorish behavior is disgusting and as a woman, I refuse to stand for this ridiculous patriarchal nonsense. Chandni, for all her faults, does not deserve this treatment.

I feel like all this show was made for was to bank on the immense IPKKND fame from the original and that is it.
