Indian audience have become desensitized to violence against women, but I suppose the involvement of a little kid pissed people off.

I wrote something similar here.

Though I agree that gul's shows are most regressive. Ekta's shows nowadays are mostly guilty of being stupid, she has stopped showing mistreatment of women for ratings. unlike gul, ekta has proper courtesy and good business skilss. Gul on the other hand is an arrogant fool with zero manners or any kind of business sense.

Agreed. What might happen in the future doesn't justify the creepiness of the scenes the kid was made to do, like the catch-the-heroine-falling sequence, the suhagraat and the kid planning his honeymoon destinations.

They made a serious crime like child marriage whose victims suffer horrid abuse and rape into some noble sacrifice to praise the girl for marrying a kid 🤢

^^ The makers for any serial only talk about the main focus of the story and not everything else.. The main focus was always meant to be the relationship between Diya and Ratan.. For all you or anyone know, they might have shown Diya getting a new guy, and Ratan a new gal after he grew up with them sharing a bond of friendship or trust or whatever..

As per reviews, the hero's dad was a purohit, I guess thats the term used.. the heroine's family blamed him for theft of temple's jewels following which he wasmurdered.. the heroine gave testimony that she saw the purohit's wife flying which led to people proclaiming that she was a dayan and hence she was burnt alive.. The hero ran away with his little bro to be saved from the throng of people and when they caught up with him in train, he threw his bro from the train to protect him and is now back to take revenge against the heroine for her false testimony

This is pretty absurd even for a hindi serial's standards.

Negative then positive,. he died a noble death😆
See my thinking is simple.. if the show had continued to romanticize it from the girls' POV, I would have been the first in line to condemn it.. But thats where it did not.. I don't think it romanticized the marriage simply because for the gal, it was just her responsibility.. Its the kid who was thinking of married couples and what they do NOT the girl who actually knew what a wedding means

yes marriage between Shankar and Phulwa was never shown as noble sacrifice Shankar married kid Phulwa to destroy Phulwa He did this to take revenge from her but later realizing his mistake he freed her but PPk it is shown as a noble work by diya so there is a lot of difference between both cases

Let me add some more haha

The girl was kidnapped by her own step mother for a few days. After this incident the girl suffered PTSD.
The guy saw her with a baby who was actually her sister's (out of wedlock) and assumes she is a characterlesa woman and the kid is a product of the days she was in captivity. He calls her giri hui in front of every one.

The show recieved flak ever since the promos aired. a 9 year old putting sindoor on the girl then the girl getting overwhelmed and emotional raised a lot of eyebrows.
A trip fall catch scene was shown between deeya and ratan, and while it is innocent it was reminiscent of the cliched trip catch scenes between every romantic pair on screen. Ratan was shown following deeya and taking her pics without her knowledge, these things really hit a nerve.

The BCCC only told the makers to shift timeslot, they did not ban the show. the decision to take it off air was taken by the producers and channel because they would not get desired trp's. maybe sony could have waited until the leap to decide to take it off air or not.

the indian audience hardly protests against anything on telly, they protested against this and BCCC gave a decision. the audience never forced it to shut down the makers were not confident about trp's so really, fans need to stop blaming "haters"

You clearly missed out on the protests of Barun's character bumping off on IPK owing to which it was pulled off air😆
I am not a fan though.. I havent even watched the whole epis that aired😆 I just am against this selective outrage over stuff.. Either you take action against all the wrong or none.. I don't get why one thing is singled out while the other stuff get a free pass
