When Maya said that deeya will not save Saanjh's life but she will she meant that praying to God for Saanjh's safety will not be of any use coz Saanjh's life is in her hands...she is the one who can save her life and no one else not even God.
This was a threat she made to Arjun that his prayers will be in vain until and unless he complies with what she says.
And then she lit the other deeya for her mom reminding Arjun that this was what he had come to the temple for...to pray for Jhanvi
I didn't get into the symbolism part coz i eas not sure about it so tried to think from a more practical perspective
But one thing I didn't understand is that how come Maya who otherwise is so intelligent couldn't decipher Saanjh's clues
