LMAO. Either people didn't grew up in the 90s or they have selective memory. Kajol was a game changer in the 90s. At times when people like Karishma, Raveena and Manisha were doing 2 bit roles she was doing author-back roles. And all that with a de-glam avatar and in shalwar kameez.

Karishma was on the top in the 90s so i dunno what people are complaining about. Its not anyone's fault that she didn't survive her downfall.

Manisha (as good as she was in those 3 of her movies) gave a lot of turkeys and was considered boxoffice poison. Again not Kajol's fault. Who knows if she was given DDLJ or KKHH she wouldve ruined them too with her panautipan.

And anyone bringing up Raveena as a "performer" has lost the argument before it began. She was the "ore ore', "tip tip" and "sheher ki larki" girl with pathetic acting abilities. She was a B-grade actress even in the 90s.

Oh and as for that tired KJo excuse, Kajol only did 3 movies with him. He later on worked with Rani, Alia and Anushka. So my question is why weren't they able to win anything? 😉

I like this interview. I feel she's always been unapologetic about her choices and admits that she had other priorities. It was her rebellious personality that endeared her to many, along with her acting ability. She's right when she says, today there's no scope to be that rebellious or have an individual personality as new debutantes are all expected to be cookie cutter heroines.

She is right -- she survived for 25 years because she let the audience miss her. She didn't do too many movies and excelled in the ones she did. For it's time Kajol had a great filmography. DDLJ, KKHH, Gupta, Dushman.

I definitely wouldn't say she's always played herself. She's probably most similar to Anjali from KKKG, but absolutely nothing like Simran, KKHH's Anjali. She's one record saying Simran didn't make any sense to her.
