Don't make me laugh with these classifications. A cult movie is the highest form. There is nothing higher than a cult classic.

But seriously, that is your view buddy, IMO Cult Classics are awesome and all. But a movie which is universally loved is a bigger deal than a movie which is enjoyed by only limited section of audiences.
I think I am bit wrong in Classifying TZP as cult classic, it is also an universal classic as I have started to think of. That does not mean I think Ghajini is better than DCH or PK is better than RDB. Just Classifying as their status in Hindi cinema.

Lagaan,DCH ,RDB,TZP,3Idiots and Dangal r his best films...

Dhobi Ghat is a movie I have come to love over the years. It is mesmerizing, beautiful and so open to the viewer.


Lagaan, DCH and Rang De Basanti are classics;

Rang De Basanti is particular is special. Amazing characters, excellent cinematography and one of best music albums BW has produced. The performances across the board are stellar.

DCH, again a masterpiece and it stands out even more for its direction. The use of silence, the wide shots and scenes playing out instead of cutting very second coupled with cinematography and the lighting make it a technical marvel as well.

And for Lagaan, it is the best BW musical for me, a true classic.

Dangal (at 9th, that is a testament of how good his movies have been)

Ghagni and Fanaa are terrible while D3 is mediocre, The Rising is in the not bad but not good either category (its boring though and long) and I refuse to watch Mela.

3 Idiots - a masterpiece nothing else comes close IMO

Fanaa is a guilty pleasure of mine and Ghajini was great too. PK I liked initially but it doesn't have the repeat value that 3I has

LAgaan, DCH, RDB Talaash TZP, 3idiots PK Dangal . I can't name one from that list alone

3 Idiots is his best movie till date
