Sobti is one those rare actors who can mould the audience's thought process according to his liking. There have been dime a dozen angry young men on tv before and after season one asr, none of them being able to genearate that kind of hysteria. It was Sobti's nuanced act, be it the subtle body language, incredible voice modulation or those damn expressive eyes (I swear even his eyebrows can act) that made asr so iconic.

Thank you. I always love reading what you write also, even though my like and quote button seem to permanently out of work lol. But yeah, I tried to watch a bit of the first season on Hotstar and it seemed to be a really light, fluffy, Korean drama-esque love-hate affair, nothing like what this seems to be. I have a serious feeling that online audience won't love this version as much because it seems grander and darker. I hope it connects with TRP audience only and mainly. The overall atmosphere is stunning and larger-than-life. Hopefully, it comes across as such in the actual episodes also. It looks like a SLB film. I just want them to switch Chandni's look to something simpler but they won't listen. :/[/DIV]
