Bahubali 2 box office collection: SS Rajamouli's magnum opus holds a steady second week for the Hindi version

Soon after Bahubali 2: The Conclusion hit theatres, there has been no looking back for the cast and crew. SS Rajamouli's magnum opus maintained a solid hold on the second Tuesday earning Rs 15.50 crore nett, thus taking the second week total to Rs 112 crore nett, reports Boxofficeindia.com.

The Hindi version of Prabhas' film collected Rs 245 crore in its first week and continued to raking in moolah in the second week. At the ticket window, the film earned Rs 20 crore on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the film earned Rs 26.50 crore and Rs 33.50 crore respectively. After a steady weekend, the film earned Rs 16.50 crore approximately on Monday, thus taking the total domestic collection of Rs 357 crore in 12 days.

Bahubali 2 is likely to be penned in the pages of history after breaking records by becoming the first Indian film to earn Rs 100 crore on its day of release and going on cross the Rs 1000 crore-mark with worldwide collections. It may be recalled that Dangal had collection of Rs 111.56 crore in its second week collection, followed by PK with Rs 96.37 crore, Bajrangi Bhaijaan at Rs 86.28 crore and Dhoom 3 in the fifth position with Rs 64.51 crore.

Also, BOI is a Salman and Srk fan boy website, they suck up to both of them whilst barely mentioning Aamir, you can tell they wish Salman or Srk do well so they can gloat.

Aamir never gets the recognition he deserves form them idiots.

My point are as follows

1. This topic is not about who like Bahubali or who does not.

2 We are all happy that BB is earning more than any of Sallu movies but it is this Sallu fan who is acting out jealousy bringing ticket hike etc etc.

3. Instead of suggesting him to enjoy or neglect Bahubali's success, you barged into this thread to post that you didn't like Bahubali, Fair enough, not everybody has to like this movie.

4. I never said you don't have right give opinion but the opinion you posted has little to with the topic.

5. I can clearly see you hidden frustration that Bahubali is out of reach for Sallu.

Lakhan, I do agree with some of your remarks, but that's not all there is to the success of Bahubali 2. Whether Bahubali is a sequel, or the makers raised ticket prices, no Bollywood or Indian movie in recent memory has ever generated such hype or box-office collections (especially in non-Holidays).

The reason BOI had to include Bahubali in their database is because of the Hindi business. Bahubali 1 (iirc) earned around 150 crores (Hindi version). Robot didn't do well (Hindi version). But Bahubali 2 (Hindi) has shattered every box-office record, whether of Bollywood or any part of India.

So, it's not BOI breaking its own code, but the site accepting how Bahubali is a modern-day juggernaut at the BO. Now, why is it so big or what are the contributing factors--that is another topic.

You can't say Bahubali (Hindi version) worked because of luck only. The producers of Bahubali knew that the hype was unprecedented and there was demand, hence, they raised the price to an all-time high. The fact that people still paid to watch Bahubali 2 and it's running houseful even today shows how desirable a product it was.

People are willing to spend big money on right movies. I think Bollywood should, in fact, learn from this. Instead of making rom-coms only, they should be willing to invest big on these mythology-based movies, historicals, fantasy epic, etc.

Back when the Khans debuted, Bollywood wasn't as equipped as it is today. With investment and technology, anything is possible. I don't when and how Bollywood developed this small time mentality and started opting for slice of life movies over huge spectacles. Not that there is any problem with these slice of life movies; I like them, but you have to push the barrier.

India is the only country in the world where Hollywood movies doesn't outperform domestic cinema. It's a shame Bollywood can't cash on this.
