Okay, another crazy scene of mine! 😃 This is a little warm and cheesy for my taste but felt maybe might fit the mood and setting! Solely my idea and many may not like it! I myself am not fully assured and satisfied that this can happen at this juncture of the story specially when I am a stickler for characters. But nevertheless, here it goes, read at your own risk.

Next day after the wedding AMK was sitting in his room looking at the empty bed remembering the celestial sight he witnessed last night! His love, yes he can admit to himself now silently and secretly that he is in Love! It does not matter that the feeling is not reciprocated! He has not asked it to be returned! And the good thing is he does not need her permission to love her, that is something his own, it is between him and his heart! In fact, he has done something to the contrary which makes it difficult for any girl of royal and respectable descent to love him but what could he do? He had to protect her, save her from the hawks like Khalil, protect her from Huzoor! He had to do what he did for her sake and someday he hoped she will understand him and forgive him and reciprocate the feeling! Someday! A long sigh escaped him! At least, she is his now and they are married, that can not change.

There was a knock at the door to disturb his train of thought! "Yes?", he answered. It was the chief maid Gauri. She ventured inside and hesitatingly asked, "Sahib, there is a tradition where the groom and bride feed sweets to each other after the wedding. We were wondering if that can be done now,...that is, if you are not busy?"

AMK looked around the room! Except for the table, he was working on there is not much furniture to do the needful and then he looked towards the bed. Gauri understood his plight and said, "Sahib, please sit down on the bed, Baisa will also come and sit next to you. I will get a table". She went and got a low snack table and placed a plate full of mixed sweets containing, Kheer, Rajbhog, Laddoos, other varieties of delectable mithais and two spoons.

Before long he heard the sounds of her anklets and even before she entered he could feel his whole being absorbed by her aura! She slowly entered the room looking down with an orange veil covering her face! He looked once and wanted to prolong the glance trying to capture the image in his memory for good. She smelled of lavender and her feet was decked in red 'alta' and her hands though were held together in a grasp displayed the rich dark color of henna and the beautiful designs it showcased. She had simple and yet elegant piece of jewellery adorning her wrists. He couldn't decide what was more beautiful, the bride he saw yesterday or the newly married woman who was standing in front of her now. Slowly as his eyes went up from her wrist towards her face his breath just got caught up in his throat! Underneath the veil, did he see it correctly? Yes! She is wearing the necklace that he presented her last night!

Dhakdhak, dhakdhak, dhakdhak!!! What was that sound booming in his ears? Oh, it was his uncontrolled heart beats! As usual, his disobedient heart has taken its own toll and is acting out on its own! He looked away for a second to control his emotions which are making him feel elated! He slowly again looked back at her trying to mask his feelings and slowly looked up at her face! Her eyes were cast down but her delightful form is stirring up a storm within which is making him harder to control himself! AMK, this is unthinkable! There has never been any situation where you could not control your feelings or emotions, what happened to you now? Is this what they call desire? Maybe, yes it is, it must be! Whatever it is, you have to restrain it!' His jaws flicked in a silent serious line without revealing any emotion as such.

Gauri made Heera sit on the bed and looked up at Khan Sahib. He, after Heera sat slowly, inched in towards the bed and took a seat keeping a safe distance between them. Gauri gently told him indicating towards the sweets, 'First feed her the Kheer and then any sweets'. She slowly took Heera's veil off for him to feed her! Uh oh!! No, no, no, bad idea! The veil had some check to the tightening knot in his heart! Right now he has an unrestrained view of her red vermillion smeared forehead, beautiful eyebrows and long eyelashes that covered those hazel eyes, glossy, warm pink hue of her cheeks and the red plum colored shapely lips that extricated an unforbidden feeling in him! Again he had to close his eyes for a second to rein in the inferno within! He opened his eyes again and took the bowl of Kheer in his hands and one spoon. He scooped some Kheer and went towards her to feed her.

Her eyes were down. She had a weird feeling in her. She has not seen him after the night. He was gone when she woke up. Gauri nudged her to look up. She did and their eyes collided sharing an eye lock. He looked pristine as ever! A little tired around the eyes but his face was polished, groomed, and shining! Maybe he had a wash, she thought and she could smell a trace of rose water. That somehow made her feel warm within and she wanted to smell some more of that fragrance! 'Hush, Heera, what are you thinking?' She could see his muscles flicking along his jaw line and did she see some unease in his look? His jaw though set tightly but his mouth looked inviting and pliable! There was a softness around his mouth! 'Again Heera, what are you thinking?' She looked down again all perturbed. After a second she looked up and lo and behold, was there a hint of a smile on his face?

He held the spoon near her face and she looked up and he could see the discomfort in her face but at the same time he also saw her checking his features out and her eyes lingered a tad bit longer on his mouth. It stirred that emotion in him again, making his heart flutter with that uncontrollable need. He wanted to smile in happiness but checked himself again. He edged the spoon near her mouth.

She saw the spoon and slowly opened her mouth to take the kheer. She inched forward and he too forwarded the spoon to her. She quietly swallowed the kheer. He kept the spoon on the left side of the plate. She took the other spoon shakingly and before she could stop it her grasp lightened and the spoon fell on the ground. Gauri got anxious seeing that but she saw Khan Sahib held up his hand asking her to stop worrying. He simply picked up the spoon he fed her with and forwarded it to Heera. Heera was all flustered by the gesture and didn't know what to do other than slowly to take it from him. She scooped up some kheer and forwarded it to him. He ducked his head making it easy for her to reach him. She faltered a little to find the exact position to feed the kheer. He suddenly held her hand in a light grasp and guided her to his mouth which slightly opened to take the kheer! Her hands felt soothing with his touch, it was nothing like next to the canal side. This touch also conveyed a kind of ownership, a gentle grasp that was reassuring and it also spread a warm feeling all over her. He didn't linger at all, the moment she fed him he let her hands go. Why did she feel a sense of loss? Why did she want him to hold her hands longer? Those groomed hands, long fingers, cut and clean and polished fingernails were very alluring to look at! She also noticed the callouses were all gone from the inside of his palm. It looked smooth, inviting and invigorating!

He saw her observing his hands as well. It made him glow from within, reassured him of a certain warmth emitting from her which gave him courage and made him feel bold. The horizon didn't seem dull anymore, it was not grey! He could see the warm flare of red, orange and pink hue lighting up the far horizon! It gave him Hope.

Gauri asked Heera to feed him a sweet. She hesitated for a second and took up a laddoo and slowly edged it to him. She quickly looked up again at him. This time for sure she could see a smile lingering on his mouth. She averted her gaze knowing the reason behind his smile. He knew she remembers his fondness for laddoos and purposely chose that to feed him leaving behind the other variety of sweets. He again this time deliberately and with a firmer grasp held her hand and inched forward to take a bite of the laddoo. The hold she felt was bolder and firmer than the previous time and he didn't immediately let go of her hands but it lingered all the way back to the plate where she left the half uneaten portion. He then let go of her hands.

It was his time to feed her. He took a rajbhog from the plate and held it forward to her. She took a bite from it looking at his hands making sure her eyes doesn't go to his profile. The effort didn't go unnoticed by him. He smirked a little to himself! Again he could feel a warmth spread all throughout his body.

Dhani came in at that time and called to Gauri, asking her to help with the thali for the temple that they were all planning to go with Heera. Gauri left leaving both the newlyweds with an awkward silence. She cleared her throat and spoke up, "I am gong to the temple." He simply nodded. She got up from the bed and hesitated for a while and said indicating towards the laddoos, 'Maharaj Kaka specially made the sweets for the occasion'. He stared at her for a moment and then said 'yes, they are very good'. Next moment she saw him pick up the rajbhog that she took a bite from and he ate from that end and said again, 'very good indeed'. He finished it off and then licked his fingers. She could feel her face turn crimson and before putting the veil back over her face and going towards the door one last look she directed towards him and this time she could clearly see a smile, not a full one, but definitely a smile that made his chiselled features look so much more handsome, soft, inviting and warm!

He saw her leave and without his knowledge, he broke into a warm smile! The day suddenly felt so much more brighter and warmer! Yes, Hope and Effort, he should keep them up to win over her affection someday.
