Chapter 31- A New Morning!

Arnav let Khushi sleep longer while he informed Mr. Mehta about Khushi not working today and he will attend calls from home.

He took a quick shower, made breakfast, the tea and coffee ready for them... He finished couple of important calls in the morning and it was almost 10 am when Khushi got up...

"Good Morning Khushi, how are you feeling now?" Arnav was right there for her when she got up and checked if she has fever...

She realized she had slept off after eating and looked at the clock to see it's already 10 am.

"I am so late for office. Why didn't you wake me up?" Khushi asked him still feeling drained.

"Khushi, I called Mr. Mehta to inform him. It's Friday anyways. So you will get plenty of rest and can come back to work on Monday. Now get fresh and let's eat breakfast" He was trying to have normal conversation.

She did not say anything. Got ready and came for breakfast. After having medicines she was not sure what to do. Whether she should talk to him but still she was angry at herself and him...

"Lisa, Thanks for the invitation but I won't be able to make it. Khushi is sick and I am with her... You all can carry on..." He politely refused the Friday night party invitation and finished the call.

"Arnav, you can carry on. I plan to go to my apartment tonight. I can go to class from there. It will be closer for me tomorrow" Khushi informed him politely.

"Khushi, you are not going anywhere. Please reschedule your classes for this weekend." He commanded in no nonsense tone.

"Arnav, I have to go. We are vacating the apartment over weekend and I have to pack my stuff" Khushi informed him.

"Ok then, let's go get your stuff. Give me 5 minutes and I will be ready" Arnav confirmed.

"No way, Arnav. I am ok. I will manage." Khushi just refused.

How much ever Arnav tried to stay calm, her cold behavior and not spitting out what else was bothering her was getting onto his nerves.

"Arnav, seriously you can carry on with your party with Lisa. I really need to pack my stuff. By the way was Lisa your date for yesterday's party too?" She asked him in a passing statement.

"What? No..." He was really curious what was going on in her little brain...

He just took her both hands, took her inside and made her sit relaxed on the bed.

"Now let's talk" he could not wait any further and see her stressed out like that...

"Khushi, why would Lisa be my date when I love you? What has gotten into you?" Arnav replied politely urging her to speak... He saw the result of his anger on her... She just couldn't take it.

"Because you already broke whatever we had. And she was bragging about being your date for the party" Khushi told him what she had heard.

"So you believe her and not me?" Arnav asked her.

"I do believe you. But she said when she asked you, you did not say no" Lisa had played her card well.

"Khushi, I went to meet up with my friends after our tiff. That too just because I had promised John and Nisha who drove 5 hours from Manchester just to meet me. When Lisa asked me, I didn't even care about it because I was reading Ananya's message about you..." Arnav really hated to justify himself but he needed to get it out of her system so he just decided to answer her every question today with all the patience he had. He had to know what was going on in her mind.

They really needed to talk and resolve things... Just when he thought he started behaving normal, she was acting thick headed and not expressing herself...

"Arnav, why did you come back to Paris?" Khushi asked him lost and angry. That was the last thing he expected her to ask...

"For you Khushi. It's that simple. I thought you realized it by now..." Arnav answered.

"But why?" She still asked agitated.

"What do you mean why? I love you and wanted to see you. Are you not happy to be with me?" Arnav was not sure where this conversation was headed to.

"It's not that. But I had clearly told you that I would come to you" She argued.

"Does it really matter Khushi? I missed you so much that I just could not stay back without you" Arnav accepted honestly holding her hands.

"All I wanted was one year to do what I wanted to do. It had taken me lot of efforts to leave my country, my family and you. But you had to come, distract me and now mess it up for me... I hate you Arnav. Just go away" She was almost hysterical and started punching him hard on his chest crying out loud...

"What did I mess up? What were you trying to achieve here? I always felt you had some agenda for yourself, Khushi. Its ok, you can tell me. Khushi sweetheart, I am here to listen your side of story. It's high time you share things with me. You are highly mistaken if you think I will ever leave you and go" Arnav was trying to go slow.

"I was trying to learn work, the Fashion world, step up to manage myself better, be fluent in English and now French. I wanted to finish my graduation. I just wanted to be a better person, a smarter one." Khushi sighed slowly trying to tell him with her head down and not meeting his eye...

"I must say you exceeded extremely well in all tasks. But as is you are the most beautiful and smart person I have seen inside out so why you want to do this?" Arnav was curious and forced her to look at him by pulling her chin up...

"It doesn't matter anymore. I failed miserably. I am never going to be good enough for you. One argument and we are done..." Tears rolled down her eyes.

"What? What are you talking about?" Arnav was flabbergasted.

"I was living in a fallacy trying to achieve something that is never meant for me. Yet my heart wouldn't give in. I just wanted to try hard to be better to fit in your life." Khushi was crying again.

It still did not make any sense to him. But it slowly started to sink in. She had said relationship was not for her right now and she wanted to work for a year. He never heard of her dating or being with anyone. All he heard was she slogging herself like crazy juggling between job, college courses, language and computer classes and project management to add to it... She was overdoing things as if obsessed with something and did it all with a smile...

"But why would you do all this when you already knew I loved you no matter what" Arnav asked her.

"Yes, I had seen the affection and love in your eyes long before you actually admitted it to me" She accepted.

"Then why?" Arnav was curious but had a strong feeling something dreadful would come out.

"Right from the beginning you never treated me well Arnav or respected me, initially it was my clothes or my status being middle class and needy of a job. Then you always thought you could treat me any which way, throw money at my face and it would make it all work... You always told Di to do it too... Then my interactions with NK or Diwali night, you blamed my character... With Shyam's incident, you went way further. Without asking or giving any explanation, you were forcing me to marry you. And you thought you could get rid of me after six months by paying me money... It was not just about Di, it happened before also and I was never good enough to be even considered to have a chance or an opinion in your eyes..." Khushi took a long pause...

"Yet what did I do? I kept looking for Di's Chote or my Arnavji under your shell. I had learned to adjust all my life after losing my parents. I kept that positive outlook going and always saw you in a better light... Every time you walked close to me, I felt my heartbeat go crazy. I kept thinking it was heart burn until you declared your wedding with Lavanyaji on Diwali night... I could hear my own heart shatter after you left me at my house that night... Still during jiji's marriage I again fell for your flirting and almost thought you loved me too... But you saw me with Shyam once, not sure what piece of conversation you heard that night and again I was punished" Khushi gulped hard...

"Irony is I could never hate you still... Somehow I could never hate you or forget you... The more you detested me, the more my heart longed for you... The news of your fake engagement was the last nail for me. No doubt, I was hurt by the video again and for my family but I was equally hurt when I thought the news of your engagement could be true... My family almost decided to marry me with one guy from our neighborhood, they knew us well enough to accept me with the video leak and my bad image..." She was staring the ceiling not knowing what would be his reaction knowing the truth... Will he still like her?

"That was the day when I finally realized how much you have come to mean to me. But I wanted your love with all my dignity, respect and in real sense of a relationship" She took a deep breath.

"I never wanted to be in a relationship where there is no respect or I am taken for granted. If I wanted myself to be better to fit in your world, I wanted you also to change and fit in my world. Else we would never made it till the end... But I don't think I will ever make it... And Devi Mayya knows I tried my best... But another argument and you will find some fault in me... See you already broke anything that we had... It doesn't really matter anymore." She first time let go all her inhibitions and shamelessly accepted her love for him. She knew she was crazy to do that now but she didn't care anymore...

"And what made you think that I was not committed to you? I am curious to know. Because I don't remember thinking about anyone else in my life other than you. No matter what was the feeling? Anger, love, happiness, stress, worries, missing someone, crying for someone, being ambitious in life to prove my worth to someone, every damn feeling revolved around you... My whole world revolved around you Arnav... I don't know which part you missed or which part made you think otherwise?" She sighed. She felt none of her feelings ever mattered...

Arnav slowly swallowed all that she let out from the bottom of her heart...

Arnav thanked her Devi Mayya in his mind for ignoring Lisa yesterday... It would have shattered Khushi to death... He was in the fit of rage and drunk in the night unable to think straight!! Though he did not tell Khushi, he couldn't deny in his own mind, he had thought of pulling that stunt for a second to show up with Lisa next day and wanted to see her reaction if she would get jealous or angry!! What the hell was he thinking? It has to be her Devi Mayya who must have saved her... Else he would have just done another blunder not knowing what she was going through... A small lie he decided to live with just to save her from another heartbreak... And maybe some other time he can tell her or maybe not...

He need major anger management in his life!! He knew it right then...

None of them spoke after Khushi stopped talking... Arnav had no idea about her storm within, she smiled, and she laughed while slogging herself day and night to make herself better... For him??

She was the best, he was never worth her and would have to try his whole life to do better...

Tears rolled down his eyes... He kept his head in her lap and cried his heart out!!

"You didn't hear Lisa properly yesterday. You did not say yes but you did not say no either... You both will make a great couple... All models also think so too. I agree, you truly deserve better Arnav... And me too... I would prefer to be myself than proving my worth to anyone anymore... I would prefer to be for my family who needs me and appreciates me..." Khushi tried to smile hiding her broken heart...

"Khushi baby, please stop... stop right now... I am so sorry..." he just took her in a tight hug and went with his impulse. He kissed her hard pouring his love, passion and hunger for her... She was always core part of him, her loyalty and commitment were never a question... She never behaved out of her character or love, he did... Every time he had faltered and fell short, not her...

He was always proud for making his own destiny!! And he wrote the destiny of her wrecked heart too!! Which he didn't know how to fix or if he could ever fix?

She resisted him at first still crying and punching him trying to get away from him but ultimately gave in... He was kissing her forever to assure her, make her feel his love...

Such a beautifully written story...every aspect of khushi's character is explained and detailed along with Arnav's. There are no loops. Feeling bad for khushi. Her confession is so true ...

Wow .. at last Khushi showed him mirror .. I wish in real ipkknd this scene could come .. but they took a beautiful show on different track .. I just hope Arnav be careful enough about professional life and concentrate more on his personal life with Khushi.. awesome .. you are brilliant in story building .. love your story
