Hey Anisa. Since I haven't watched the episode and have no intention to, this post is based on WUs read from 2, 3 sources 😊
I hesitate to ask Risha, but I think you should watch the episode. I'm not saying it will make you less angry, IT IS disgusting, but not as black and white as you might think.
Shivaay was going to apologize on Annika's behalf (he did ask her to apologize, but she refused, and he let the matter go), but Annika didn't want him to, on account of her pride.
I wouldn't want my husband to apologize on my behalf to a crazy rude regressive aunt because my pride has to be protected. There are times when things get hairy and needs to be smoothed out with diplomacy. Fighting isn't the only way out of an awful situation.
Okay, Annika apologized to Kameeni ( i will insist on using this spelling, or I will use KK instead😡) humbly by touching her feet. She pulled a Shivaay move on them, and they were placated for a while. Even ACP vouched for it, and things were ok, for a millisecond.
Then the sinister Daksh walks in, and demands an apology too. That really set Shivaay off. Because there was no reasoning with an insane man. He rightly thought, he was not going to give his sister to this family.
but ACP has played his cards well. Sent a video blackmailing Prinku, who is forced to agree to marriage to save her brother Shivaay. Just like Annika was, when Shivaay kidnapped Sahil to the same effect.
We knew this was coming.
I agree , making Annika touch Daksh's feet was unnecessary. Quite an awful sight. Annika was terrified at the sight of him. Her trauma is going to be relived in tonight's episode. The trauma of an abused woman is real and painful, the memory is etched it her mind like a scar. I am more afraid of tonight's episode.
There are few ways to tell a story.
Either tell it in a way where a problem is shown and the characters positively and confidently deal with it to a satisfying resolution.
Show a story where everything goes wrong, because it is more visually shocking to see all the awful unlikely things happen to beloved characters, and decide for yourself how you would have handled it if it happened to you. This takes viewer maturity. (British TV shows have a lot of these type plots)
This is all done for SHOCK VALUE. As far as this goes, I say the makers have succeeded, as the forum is on fire with shocked disgusted loyal viewers.
Take a bunch of lovely actors, make them lovable on screen, and then make them do things we cannot swallow, and see us stuck ...
I really don't know where to begin. I dunno if you read my post on the HS thread but that one scene they've shown was too much for me to digest. I've worked too closely with victims of assault to just let this one go for the sake of creative license. It's personal.
I'll name the positives first. I'm glad Shivaay is standing up for Anika. In no way has he done enough. Because at the end of it all, he did succumb to what Anika's victimized mind thought was the best way out. Om's reaction was good. He looked the most disgusted. Shivaay looks disgusted, too but he's the great SSO. He needs to do more to protect his wife.
I really don't get the desperation for this rishta. I don't get this concept of bending over backwards to please the groom's family and these are the Oberois we're talking about. The same people who rejected an earlier, better rishta for Prinku based on illegitimacy. So I don't get why they're desperate to marry her off in a family with a certified creep. It doesn't help that Karan (Daksh) is so damn good at his job.
Anika is acting like a victim - which is so unlike Anika. That's all I wanna say on this matter.
I still love ShivIka - I think I will always. I'm helpless there. But I hope progress ke naam pe they don't slaughter them. Today, my anger is at the CVs. Not our beloved couple.
I wish I had the strength to make a longer post but this episode has drained all the energy and the enthusiasm out of me. All I can say is; they're treading down a very dark, dangerous and sensitive path of women facing their assaulters after the assault has taken place. They need to handle this track like they're waking on egg shells. I know plenty of women who have been assaulted (I'm sure we all do) and it's the sawaal of their izzats as much as Anika's. I will feel personally offended if they include more scenes like they did today.
I'll also be skipping most epis and keeping my posts here on a minimum. I love HS thread so will follow that. I'll post on your thread always because enjoy your perspective 😊
I'm sorry if I sound melodramatic. But, today, my core is heavy, sad and disturbed.
