Abhigya SS: Aditi's parents - Chapter 7 - Page 10

This is a new Abhigya SS from me. I know I have some old Abhigya fics pending. Trust me, I will finish them too. Someone from the forum had asked me a Christmas gift and I couldn't write anything new 🥺 So I opened an old Abhigya fic lying in my drafts, revised it before posting it. Chapter 1 will be posted in few days.

I am posting an extract from a later part of the story because I feel it would give an idea about the story much better than the first chapter. 😃

A snippet from a later part of the story

It was unusual of Abhi to go to school to meet Bunty and Bubbly. Raj Bhaiya was stuck in a business meeting at last minute and Mithali Bhabhi was unwell so he had went to school to pick them up. He could have sent the driver instead but he felt like going to the school for some unknown reason. He had been busy for the past 6 months with his new album and it's not exaggeration that he hadn't seen their faces for the past few weeks. Thankfully, his new album got launched the previous day and it's on the top charts. He was free till the next month before his concert.
Bunty and Bubbly got into the car and he was also about to get in when something faraway caught his eyes. The kid was alone and looked troubled so he told Bunty and Bubbly to stay inside while he went to check the familiar little kid.
"Champ", he shouted as he recognized the kid from his birthday party standing in the corridor. She was fiddling with something in her ears and didn't respond to him. He bent down and tied her untied lace properly.
"Rockstar", said Aditi happily.
"What are you doing here alone?", he asked her. He heard nothing from her and looked up at her twiddling her hearing aid.
"What are you doing?", he asked her but realized that she wouldn't be able to hear him so he gestured her and she replied that her hearing aid fell off and she was trying to fit it back in her ears. He fitted her hearing aid properly in her ears.
"If it comes off next time, tell it to your teacher. Don't play with it. Okay?'
"Okay", she gave him a high-five.
"Why are you standing alone?"
"Mom didn't come yet"
"I haven't seen such an irresponsible mother so far. She left you alone in the party and now, she didn't come to school to pick you up on time."
"Don't talk ill about my mother. She is always punctual. Maybe traffic"
"Okay Champ. I am not talking about your mother. Where's your teacher? You shouldn't be roaming alone like this."
"My teacher had took me to the office room and asked me to stay inside until my mom comes. But I came out to go to wash room and my hearing aid fell off..."
"It's okay Champ. Hereafter, don't roam alone. Always keep an elderly person's company"
"You also wear hearing aids?"
"What?", he began but then realized that the small kid has mistaken his bluetooth ear-piece to be hearing aid. When he explained her what it is, she couldn't understand. So he lifted her in his arms and started explaining her about headphones, earphones, music etc.
Being a single mother was not an easy job. Pragya had been convincing her mom that she could raise Aditi on her own but that day, she felt she was doing injustice to Aditi. When her mom said, "If you didn't adopt Aditi and a couple had adopted her instead, Aditi would have gotten the love of both her mom and dad. You are depriving her of paternal affection", she couldn't think of any counter argument. She was feeling guilty and she was hating the fact that she was feeling guilty.
When Pragya reached the school, he saw her 4 year old daughter with Rockstar Abhi again. To her horror, Abhi was explaining about the meaning of 'Happy Love' to her daughter. Somehow, it didn't feel good to her logical mind though her heart felt warm at the scene. She got her daughter from him.
"So you're here. Late as usual"

Posting the first chapter!

CHAPTER 1 - FAMILY

"Suniye! Wake up", she patted his shoulder as he was sleeping on his stomach.

"Let me sleep Pragya", he pulled a pillow close to his face.

"You'll be late for work. Wake up!", she tried to wake him up and he was about to turn.

The loud 'triiing' of her alarm jarred her out of her dream. She picked up her phone and turned off the alarm. Just when she sat up and stretched her arms, she was horrified by a red colour patch on her bed. She put on her glasses and hesitantly touched it. It was sticky and looked like Jam. Oh No. She opened her mouth to call Aditi but then saw her sitting on the other end of the bed with a jam bottle in her hand and her mouth and cheeks smeared with jam. Aditi was a 4 year old girl who couldn't be called neither chubby nor skinny. Her blue eyes were filled with curiosity and mischief almost all day. Pragya put her blanket away and picked Aditi in her arms. She took the jam bottle away from her.

"Haven't I told you not to eat anything on your own? If you need something you should ask me or Daadi", Pragya asked Aditi after placing Aditi's hearing aids on both her ears.

"Daadi is not here na. She has went to see Bulbul Maasi", came a smart reply from Aditi.

"But I am here na.", Pragya sounded stricter than usual.

"But you were sleeping and I didn't want to wake you up"

Pragya just gave Aditi a sharp stare and Aditi looked down which was her usual way of accepting that she was guilty.

"Okay. It's getting late for school. First let's get you ready for school"

After giving bath to Aditi and making her wear her school uniform and hearing aids, Pragya went to take shower asking Aditi to be a good girl which she seldom did.

Pragya's phone started buzzing for the second time.

"Mom, it's your Maa"

"Call her Daadi"

"I just read what's shown on your phone", Aditi giggled.

"Pick up the phone and tell her I'll call her after some time", said Pragya.

Aditi attended the call and put it on loud speaker.

"Hello", said Sarla.

"DAADI!!", exclaimed Aditi.

"Beta, where is your mom? Why are you picking up?"

"Why? You don't like talking to me?"

"Arrey why would I not like talking to my darling granddaughter? But where is mom?"

"She is taking ba... Here she came", she told Sarla as she saw Pragya coming out of the bathroom drying her hair with a towel.

Pragya took the phone from Aditi and just when she was about to turn off the speaker, she observed Aditi's eyes looking at her curiously. She stopped herself from turning off loudspeaker. Pragya enquired Sarla about Bulbul's health and asked her to take care. She ended the call as it was getting late for Aditi's school and her college.

"Please Daadi"

"I accepted your choice but then you said you broke up with her. Now I am going to choose"

"Come-on Daadi! Why are you in a hurry to get me married?"

He didn't look like a man who was in his early 30s but rather a 10 year old kid telling that he doesn't want to eat bitter gourd.

"I need a daughter-in-law"

"So much partiality Daadi."

"What partiality?", retorted Daadi.

"Why can't you want a son-in-law? Aliya is there na"

"Abhi! Don't divert the topic", she twisted her grandson's ears.

"What's happening?", Aliya who entered the room with few files and documents in her hand enquired both of them.

"Daadi wants me to get married", told a saddened Abhi.

"Daadi, let bhai decide when he wants to get married. Why are you putting pressure on him? He just broke up with Tanu", Aliya tried to support her brother.

"Don't take her name now.", chided Daadi.

"Just give him some time"

"You're supporting his brother. So you want what he wants?"

"What does that mean?"

"He told me to search for a son in law first"

"Son-in-law?", Aliya stood confused.

Abhi wanted to cover it up before Aliya understood but it was too late as Aliya started staring at him with a murderous glare.

"I think you should start looking for a bride Daadi", said Aliya making Abhi face-palm.

After dropping Aditi at her school and getting a bye kiss, Pragya returned to her car and started her drive to her college. Unlike other days, there wasn't much traffic that day, she thought as she waited for the signal to turn green. The signal turned green but then a tall skinny boy in his bicycle trying to cross the road fell on the road. He wasn't injured but it took some time for him to get up and the road to be cleared but it wasn't a long time that the person in the car behind her was honking continuously as if he/she would hit her car if she didn't move. She wanted to get down and give him/her a piece of her mind but she didn't feel it was worth it so she silently drove to her college. She did watch the black going in the opposite direction when she took a left turn. But it didn't matter, it was insignificant. She wasn't going to fight with him/her anyway. Little did she knew that she was totally wrong and he was going to be the man with whom she would be fighting like she never fought before.

"Abhi! Why are showing your anger on the poor horn?", asked Purab.

"I am not angry", replied Abhi as he changed the gear.

"Then why did you keep on pressing the horn near the signal?"

"30 seconds passed after the green signal was lit and that idiot wasn't moving at all"

"You need to relax"

"I AM RELAXED", shouted Abhi.

"It's not like you're going to get married tomorrow. Daadi is just looking for a prospective bride. It's going to be your choice anyway. If you don't like the girl, no one is going to force you."

"Whatever"
