I'm not even condoning what happened here but how much hold a party has nowdays apparently ain't just decided by seats I guess. When the CM of the state is legitimizing all this thuggery by playing a broker then can you blame these folks for not having much faith in the system! Things were very different when MNIK released. The state government took a stand and gave security to the theater owners , hell the CM if I'm not wrong went and watched the movie on the first day or so. Everyone remembers what happened during Dilwale. When the defense minister of the country is quoted as saying that these people would be taught a lesson then why would anyone expect these actors to have even a modicum of faith in the state machinery! It's darn easy like I said to preach but in order to do that one must also acknowledge the change that has taken place in the past few years when it comes to the atmosphere we are living in now. Am I disappointed as a fan? Hell yeah! Shahrukh has taken these people on in the past , he didn't budge even when there were protests against Dilwale but not many gave a F at the time. There were theaters where the movie didn't even release because they were so scared of these goons!
I stated this even earlier that MNS might not protest now but the SS probably would . They see Shahrukh and Ritesh going to their rival party's leader's house , of course they would try and threaten him with the same crap that Karan faced. They have set a precedent now and they will have to bow down even to SS then! Who BTW is in government! So they have more power over the state machinery than MNS does. Even if they don't threaten openly , they can very well instruct their cadre to protest at theaters , indulge in hooliganism which is their default setting! This notion that just because he went to RT , his movie is guaranteed a safe release is being a little naive so I agree with you on that bit. One can hope it has a safe release but anyone who knows a little about the politics of Maharashtra would think twice before being so sure of that.

I don't understand why everyone is raising such a hoohaa over this. Pakistan has banned Indian movies, & that is fine with everybody but if India decides not to work with Pak artists anymore, its not fine. Its true that there is no need to drag these kind of politics into film-making business but really people need to understand that the sentiment is different this time. Its at an all time low. At such at time, shouldn't we be supporting our own nation rather than speaking up for the artists of another nation who anyway don't give 2 shits over us.SRK did the right thing. I wouldn't call him a coward. He is simply supporting his country.
