Priyanka placed her hand in his and together they walked to the prayer hall in silence. He sat her on a chair in the latter aisles and then excused himself as he went to speak to another monk who had greeted him as they passed. She observed him from where she sat, his expressions between genuine cordiality and warmth as he spoke to the men. As guruji convened the session, the group dispersed and he came and sat beside her. Through the session, as guruji spoke about accepting the decisions of life with a positive outlook, he listened intently, not even batting an eyelash while Priyanka constantly kept stealing glances to see if his face would reveal an emotion, but there was nothing. At the end of the talk, guruji instructed the audience to close their eyes and perform a few exercises that would help them channel their thoughts and focus on eliminating the negative energies within the self. Priyanka did as instructed, however, at the end of the session when she opened her eyes, Ranveer had already left.

As guruji instructed them to close their eyes and think of their happy memories, like each time, Ipshita's smiling face danced before his eyes and her chirpy voice teased him mercilessly. But today, just as he began to relax and let himself feel the happiness of her fleeting presence, the colours started to dissolve and the image began to fade, leaving in it's place an image that tore his heart to shreads. His little Ippy lying lifeless in a pool of her blood, her impish smile wiped off forever. Ranveer felt his chest constrict and a sob caught in his throat. His eyes snapped open, as a searing pain crossed his chest. His hands fisted as he willed the image away, in vain. Jerking up from his seat, he stalked out of the prayer hall.

She found him in the garden, leaning with his hands on the parapet. She hesitated, and found herself contemplating to run away but before her actions could betray her, she spoke.

"W-why did you l-leave the p-prayer s-service suddenly?"

He didn't turn but she noticed his grip tighten on the wall as he spoke, "I can ask you the same, Miss Oberoi."

"A-are you okay?"

"Asking questions is easier than giving answers, isn't it, Miss Oberoi?"

"I- I - "

"You shouldn't be here, Miss Oberoi," his voice was controlled, reigning in a thousand emotions.

"I w-was just tr-trying to help," she whispered.

At that, he spun around, the anguish raw in his voice, his eyes brimming with unshed tears as he uttered one word that clearly said he was referring to more than this conversation.

"Why?"

Haha! Till this evening, I had no idea how to take this ahead. Then suddenly, this idea struck and it started forming in my head and I wanted to type it out before I lost it. 😆

Oh, ouch! Hope that wasn't a serious burn. I always type on my phone so it's with me all the time. The good side to it is that I can jot ideas as and when they strike. And I'm too used to juggling things now so it works easily for me. 😆
