I was able to understand that he will go after anika when she 1st time uttered Billuji in from of him and his reaction said that he understood just how much Anika meant to Shivvay..

He tried to test their feelings one way or the other towards each other.. In the meanwhile he was caught in his own woven web by falling in love with Anika(my assumption)

He knows that these two are not confessing to each other..and this is making him more confident
