Hey guys!! I would like to thank each of you who waited patiently and especially those who encouraged me and had confidence in me!!! I finally managed to complete the half-written drabble although I am not too sure about it... I initially planned on ending it slightly differently but while writing it I thought I should end it the way I did. I hope you guys like it. And this is dedicated to all those who have been with me since day 1 and are still there and actually look forward to my drabbles!! Thank you all!! I really really appreciate it!!
Suman Malhotra woke up to the birds chirping and the rays of the sun that peeped through the curtains. She had had a nice sleep after a few days. Being married and being a working woman was not easy. She had to divide her time not only for her work and her husband, but also the Malhotra family and sometimes the Tiwari family as well. This meant being on her toes throughout the day and going to bed later in the night than she was used to and waking up earlier which meant lesser sleep. She smiled. She would take this any day as long she had him beside her. Her anchor. Her best friend. The love of her life. Her husband, Shravan Malhotra.
She turned on her side and shifted her head from his arms to his chest. Her smile widened seeing him. He slept peacefully, innocently, very childlike, an adorable expression on his face unlike the initial days of their marriage when he used to be quite unsettled in his sleep. He used to keep tossing and turning on the bed, and when she used to wake up earlier than him, his face used to always have a frown. She had realised soon after their marriage that he used to drown his pain away by drinking constantly. He only came up to their room when he had drunk enough to not feel anything anymore. Most of the times, he used to fall asleep in his work clothes. It used to pain her to see him that way, but at that time her ego was more important. Their misunderstandings were too many and their anger towards each other overcame their love. However, in spite of everything, their love emerged as a winner when they decided to resolve their issues.
She smiled. She was so glad they did not give up. They worked on their marriage. It took time, but they were both a lot happier than they had ever been. The smiles they had on their faces in each other's presence just never seemed to leave their faces. Their fights, more like their bickering would leave them in splits most of the time. They had always been close emotionally but they became even more open towards one another. Physical intimacy was something new they started exploring; the pecks on the forehead and cheeks, the hugs, holding hands as much as they could, their passionate kisses and the nights where they became one.
She blushed recalling the time they consummated their marriage. They had made new promises that they decided they would keep come what may and had become closer on every level. She leaned upwards, raising her face and admired his handsome face, his long eyelashes kissing the skin below his eyes, his slightly longer than usual stubble, while tracing the contours of his face, trailing her fingers slowly.
Shravan peeped through his half open eyes when he felt her fingers on his face. She would have seen a naughty glint in his eyes if she was not so deep in concentration at what she was doing. It was like she was memorising his face with her eyes and hands. It was a rare sight for Shravan to see his wife admiring him; it was usually the other way round and so Shravan Malhotra took full advantage of this and kept his eyes closed and not giving in the naught thought in his mind until he felt her fingers trail lightly over his lips and he could not resist but part his lips enough to be able to bite one of her fingers.
"Ouch!" She winced in pain. "You were awake!" She exclaimed as she heard him laugh loudly. She whacked him hard on his bicep but ended up getting hurt herself. He laughed louder which made her narrow her eyes at him. She tried getting off off him but he held her by waist and flipped them over suddenly leaving her shocked and "angrier" than before.
"Shravan!!" She tried pushing him off her but she could not. She hit him on his chest and in retaliation, he started tickling her.
"Shravan!!! Stooppp!!" He tickled her in the places she felt most ticklish and she laughed loudly which left her breathless. He grinned at her as he she paused, she was breathless and a mess yet she looked beautiful to him. Her cheeks were flushed due to her laugh, her brown hair on the pillow contrasting the cream pillow cases, her breathing faster and heavier and her wide smile. He placed soft kisses on her face.
"Thank you," she managed to whisper after a couple of minute and smiled at him.
"Oh no sweetheart, you thanked me too soon!" He winked at her before he started tickling her mercilessly.
