IPKKND Nostalgia: Episode 029
Khushi On My Mind
1. At Shantivan, "I want to be alone," is the way to gain extra-attention from all the Raizada ladies. Arnav can't stop thinking about Khushi. That scratch on his palm connects him viscerally to Khushi. And her wound to him. Their blood has mingled; they are in each other now. There's no escape for you, Chotte.
2. My most favourite part of this episode is how he keeps taking Khushi's name when the ladies are referring to Lavanya. How telling. His own tongue is betraying him. Can his heart be far behind? Very cute closeup of Mr Sobti's expressions when Arnav does it for the second time.
3. And at the other end of town, Khushi comes to with a dream of Arnav touching her with tenderness. I like the way this was shot. We see only an arm and hand. We know who it belongs to. I love Payal's line, "he brought you." That is all that is necessary. Those three words are enough to clear the cloud and Khushi remembers it all. Her expressions are such that Payal is forced to ask "did anything happen of that nature---" "No!" Khushi assures her immediately. But Khushi can't rest, just as Arnav can't be at peace.
4. Shyam decides to now play the Hero. Dragging the doctor out his surgery. Standing over her bed hand-wringing. Urging Khushi to ditch her job. His keen attention tips off Buaji---the seeds of a rishta between Khushi and Shyam are planted here.
5. Nani drops some hints regarding Arnav and Anjali's past. And from this we learn why Arnav is the way he is. His entrenched ideas about marriage and love. And he states equivocally that he will not marry. He has no faith in that institution. The sister of the businessman makes a deal: either have your dinner or tell me what has happened to upset you. Lovely scene between brother and sister. It's clear that Arnav longs to unburden himself.

Maya,This episode, just like the last one, simply sizzled! Their incendiary chemistry apparent in every frame. Even the ones where she is prone - in a dead faint. Her verbal tongue lashing Arnav endures - ofcourse in a livid state, but nonetheless - she does not want to hear him out, he grips her wrist to get her attention - as you say, this establishes a pattern in their relationship, going forward! I particularly love the scene where he carries her out of the guest house and to his waiting car. She also clutches his the lapel of his shirt for the first time, another first, as we see it now. Love the scenes in the car and outside Buaji's house. Their unconscious intimacy - no pun intended here, haha! - comes through in the manner in which he belts her into the seat or carries her close to his chest, as he looks for Buaji's house...how does he know exactly where she lives...another unexplained mystery!Payal and Buaji do a great job of defending Khushi. Payal's no-holds-barred diatribe is one of Deepali Pansare's most powerful scenes on the show. Sadly they watered down her role drastically in later episodes, dissolving not just the dynamic Payal shared with Khushi but also making her character totally ineffectual. Wish they had stuck to their guns and given us two parallel strong stories that would have leveraged Akshay Dogra and Deepali Pansare's full acting prowess, both are decent looking people and good actors in their own right! Also feel the Payal-Arnav dynamic could have been better exploited to move the story forward, but it was never expanded upon enough.Love how Arnav looks longingly was it, at Khushi through the window on his way out. And he did hear Payal talk of informing Shyam ji and stops mid-stride. Then of course he resumed walking out of the door. Hmm...wished they had used all these inferences to get ASR to ferret out the truth in that later episode, where he simply misunderstands Khushi and tars her as unfaithful and conniving. And yes, Shyam Jha...our nadir and last stop...he realizes today what a rut he has fallen into by trying to befriend Khushi and getting her a job at AR, thrusting her into the limelight and allowing her to matter enough to the big man himself - ASR. We do not know the relationship Arnav and Shyam share at this point, but the pall of gloom on Shyam's face foretells some imminent tragedy...Waiting for the next one, Maya!Best,Anu
What an eventful day. It started with Khushi going to Arnav Singh Raizadaji's house ( she never calls him ASR), ended up putting her foot in her mouth by spilling Arnav's affair to Naniji, resulting in blowing very short fuse of Arnav, which when it comes to Khushi becomes even shorter. He did not want to see her anymore and she ends up in a ready to collapse building. The way he runs to rescue her was like as if he had to see her to make sure she was ok and nothing else matters at that moment. There was such care, gentleness in the way he handled her while brushing the tears off her face and while carrying her and in the car once they reach home. As if she is very precious to him. And yes, loved the shot of him carrying her so effortlessly :-)
Good for Barun as Sanaya is slim. Barun as ASR sure is an eye candy :-).
He could not even react to Payal and Buaji's outbursts as he is worried about Khushi and reluctant to leave her in that state. Khushi is soon becoming the most important person in his life.
It is official that khushi trusts him implicitly inspite of him insulting her at every given opportunity.
Shyam is surprised to see Arnav there. We were not supposed to know why he reacted that way as first time viewers.
Poor thing Anjali calls him for moral support but he does not want to leave khushi in this condition. His crush on Khushi is fast becoming an obsession.

Thorough analysis Maya. Here are my thoughts on this epi.
The day continues. Payal and Buaji are worried about Khushi.
They turn to Shyam for emotional support. How ironic.
To them Arnav is a villain and Shyam is hero at that moment.
Goes to show how easy it is to dupe people if one sets out to do so.
Shyam looks more at home at Buaji's house than at RM with the way he dresses like a simpleton.
Very clever of the makers of the show to dress him like that.
It would have been hard for him to dupe them had he dressed like a Raizada Damad.
Khushi/ Sanaya looked absolutely lovely with her hair open.
She continued to look lovely till the end of Teej, after that she is back to oily tight plait.
Her expressions were bang on after she gained consciousness.
Infact throughout the show which I watched as a marathon, there was never an awkward moment in her performance.
She was never overly dramatic even in emotional scenes. Always a natural.
Arnav is completely shaken by this incident. Why wouldn't he, Khushi was almost at death's doorstep because of him.
He cannot concentrate on anything as he needs to know how she is doing.
Naniji is on a mission today. But I am confused about Naniji's views on pyaar.
She says love does no good to anyone.
Does that mean her daughter( Arnav's mother) had loveless marriage and she was happy in it?
And Arnav's father spoiled everything by seeking love from outside?. That does not make sense.
Arnav says he does not believe in love or marriage.
How far he comes from this statement to when he confesses to Khushi that he cannot live without her.
Naniji's goading combined with frustration over his feelings for Khushi make him take hasty decisions.
You are right , Loved his expressions when he takes Khushi's name the second time.
I liked the scene between Arnav and Anjali. Mr. Sobti and Ms. Kaur were natural as hot headed little brother and soft spoken warm hearted big sister.
payal looked lovely too.

Thank you, Pari.Loved much of what you said. You know I've never quite understood the Raizada family history, and I attributed that to my skimming and skipping. I hope this close viewing will shed some light. Whatever has occured it has left Nani as a realist, Anjali as a optimistic romantic---and Arnav as as cynical closet romantic (?)
