This was my favorite bit ..Shilpa Rao sounds insanely soulful..This woman is better than Shreya or every other mainstream popular singer IMO 😆

Agree, it's very soulful. There is a really appealing texture to the tone of her voice. Oh, she says 'Tanhayiyon ke lamhe sab multavi huye hain...' as in "moments of sadness have all been postponed." These lines are definitely modelled on Saba's character.

@minu_8: There is a surprising amount of deeply beautiful Urdu words used in the song...I think that's why it may be coming across as a bit hard to understand?

I think the use of Urdu makes it even more beautiful. Even though I don't understand each and every Urdu word used in it , I'm sure after listening to a few more times I would get a better idea of the lyrics.

Oh yeah..I heard it again and realized i got it wrong cos i din't understand the word 😆 Yeah definitely modeled on Saba's character..About heartbreak, finding love again, hope, nervousness..Shit its beautiful ❤️ We need more songs with Shilpa Rao-Amit Trivedi-Amitabh Bhattacharya and Shilpa Rao-ARR-Irshad Kamil in an Imtiaz Ali film 😆

Will try to write out the lyrics/their meaning...some of it sounds odd when translated so I feel like I'm botching it but please correct any if wrong:

OMG! Who wrote such BEAUTIFUL lyrics to this song?

Tera mauqam bulleya .. sarhad k paar bulleya.

Beautiful beautiful words. I have observed KJo has incorporated beautiful and pure urdu in his songs and that is just delightful to hear. The title song had many pure urdu words and so does this song!

and Baba Bulleh Shah is the one of the biggest sufi poet of subcontinent and i guess the words were just PERFECT, just the perfect ode to the great poet and also incorporating the character;s personal feelings. Bulleh Shah wrote his poetry for God .. and i LOVED LOVED how they incoporated the line tera muhafiz parwardigar .. . A person pleading bulleya to solve his angst and then trying to follow Bulleh Shah .. how perfect!!

I am gonna listen to it again to comment properly!

Btw Baba Bulleh Shah is the one who wrote ..

raanjha raanjha kardi main aape raanjha hoyi .. raanjha raanjha sado meinu heer na akhe koi .. the one which was used in Raavan movie ..
